2TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-II HARD DRIVE - JUST £79 inc VAT

Fatboy.

On a serious note I got thorugh the 3D secure part. It then went blank, when eventually I got back into the site I went to try and order again (thinking it had failed) and got a message to say I could not order another one. Surely this should mean I got one and my payment processed. Happy to send a screenshot to show what I got.

Same thing happend to me and others!

. But you have to remember what it was all about - generating interest (all publicity is good publicity ultimately), which it succeeded in doing.

I'd have to disagree. This has only generated bad press for OCUK and annoyed a lot of people. The irony is that this is "overclockers" which you woudl expect to have extremely capable hardware and bandwidth. The jokes about feeding the hamsters and the almost smug attitude to the assumption that it would cope easily is laughable, which is a big shame. This was always a lottery and many people have already put forward constructive ideas on how to do a forum member product promo lottery. This was not one of them. When it is out of peoples control as to whether checkout works or not, it's not fun any more.

In that case that's pretty dreadful! Stopped from buying one again as you've ordered one but actually you haven't. I'm appalled to be honest. Never really needed 2TB but it was a good deal and I had one, I could smell it. The thing is if you can't run a web based operation and handle demand don't bother!

I feel cheated, after seeing the page clicking add to basket and then sitting there for the proceding hour trying to continue my purchase. Pff, still a cheap offer on a more exspensive hard drive..... nah.

What OcUK should have done is not specificed a time or made it just for forum members. Still have had 50 drives for today but just at a random time that only Spie knew. That way the site wouldnt have gone bang at 1.30 and everyone would get a chance at getting a drive if they checked the site a few times in the day
Yeah, remember how well that worked out with the MSI boards going live sometime in the morning when few people expected them to? Not that I'm complaining, I got me some nice boards out of that promo, but the consternation of people expecting a later time was IMHO worse than what we see now.

I didn't get one today, but I think it's fairer to announce a time, stick to it, and then let the 'server lottery' decide.

When I ordered it crashed at the same part aswell, but the order still when throught when I checked my account.

Got my comfirmation email through there aswell.

I didn't order this special offer because I knew this hard drive is slow one exspecially 5900RPM. I wouldn't bother with this one unless if there is 7200RPM then I would try and get it if I am lucky enough.

The fact that this LP product line only is 5900RPM is not an issue. From the benchmark results we can see that the drive was very competitive with a 7200RPM drive, while still offering 'green' benefits in the terms of noise, heat, and power consumption.
