yep storage here to, so speed dont mater here also. 1TB u dont really need that for anything else other than storage really.

5900rpm isn't a problem. It's not meant to be fast. It's meant to be a 2TB beast for storage.

Besides, 5900rpm means it's less likely to fail and take 2TB of your data with it

Congrats to whoever managed to get their hands on one! I was sitting at my desk at 12:30 and intended on staying at it until 13:30 to order when one of our remote offices network went down! I ran over and spent the best part of 2 hours fixing their issue at the same time using my Iphone to place an order but by the time I got to the checkout and clicked confirm order it was out of stock :rolleyes:

Now I feel like going back to the remote office and shoving the vpn/modem and wifi up everyones bum!

I've already got a 1TB 'cuda LP drive in my server and, tbh, they're really not much slower than the 7200rpm drives.

Like most people, I thought I managed to get one of the promo drives. I already had 1 item (gfx card) in my basket but by the time I added the promo HD, got through the slow loading pages and click on confirm order it eventually came up saying: Sorry but this drive is out of stock, however perhaps you would like to consider bla bla. I simply cancelled the order and saved myself @£170. Like most, the extra storage would have been nice but not absolutely needed.

I use the forums on a regular basic, mainly to read, I find it a good source of information and will continue to do so. Although I have not made many posts myself (not worth it for the free postage cause I live in Jersey and OCUK won't do free postage to here no matter how many posts I make) I have been using OCUK for PCs & components since 2002, iirc OCUK were at Unit 40 Imex Business Park back then. My last order at OCUK was for a complete PC (@£1000) in September 2008, just as we all found out that bankers were lying to us as much as the politicians do and the price of everything started going up real fast, hence ordering a decent PC quickly that would last me a few years. Since then I have kept on eye on both the site & the forums but this promo would have been the first order I since 2008.

All in all I found this not a very positive or pleasant experience but I do not blame anyone for it, I just hope OCUK will learn from this experience and perhaps any future promos, like this one, will be run in a more *fair* and better manner.

I didn't try to get the hard drive but that 3d secure thing is crap. I have made 3 orders today and every time it has asked me for the 3rd, 6th and 13th letter/number of my password...my password if 9 letters and a number long lol :confused:

Had to put my card details in each time.

Does this mean you'll be honouring those people who made it all the way to the secure code after successfully placing the item in their basket?

Surely admiting OcUK couldn't restrict it to 50 units means those who failed due to another issue with the OcUK site should be honoured too?

btw made the phone call ealier, the Gent has told me in que, just checked my online order status and says Order Status: Printed in our warehouse
so I'am ok .
