2TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-II HARD DRIVE - JUST £79 inc VAT

YAY! i got my shipping email so must have one on the way :D shame the Akasa Enclosure i ordered with it is backordered due to stock shortage, even though it says there is more than 10 in stock.

I think the premise of the promotion will always cause some degree of mayhem though - you can't form an orderly queue, you have to all try and shove through the door at the same time, some people will lose out unfairly.

The problem is what is perceived as "fair" by customers. You could argue that the random way the server was processing order requests was fair in that everyone had a roughly equal chance but then some customers on here are arguing that not giving precedence to established forum members was "unfair".

Regardless of who's right or wrong, I get the distinct impression that this promotion has aggrieved more people than it has pleased and thus the loss of potential future business may well outweight the gains so OcUK might want to try something else in the future. That's their decision though :)

how come there is still two in stock according to the site? yet when you get there nothing?

Think you might be cached...

"We are sorry but we have now run out of this special promotion from Seagate - we do have this 'fantastic' offer from Hitachi though!"

I tried for it, but got a couldn't connect error for about 40 minutes :)

I suspect there were an awful lot of people trying for it given the number of people that have posted in this thread, and that it was (IIRC) posted on at least one of the bargain forums.

well looks like a be get me self Western Digital Hard Drive any one used this with pop corn hour A110 ??

Western Digital Caviar Green 1.5TB SATA-II 64MB Cache - OEM (WD15EARS

The funny thing it`s that in my order there were other items as well that I`ve bought prior to the moment of the HDD availability , items worth of 572 pounds , but as I couldnt make the payment I took my revenge and decided to buy from a different place. I know I have no right to complain as the discounted price it was not a right , but a privilege , but I still feel a bit funny, like somehow cheated. I honestly don`t think that OCUK should make any of these kind of offers anymore, because the amount of happy people its so much smaller then the amount of unhappy ones. I consider it a failed experiment.

Why didnt you checkout before 1.30pm or now? Or did you just want to get the promo hard drive with the rest of the other stuff?

I got on in time, got one of the promo drives into my shopping basket, went through the checkout process and waited for 5 minutes for the Bank Authorization to take place, then suddenly get a screen telling me you have sold out and offering something at 3 times the price!
Well done Overclockers - you found a very effcient way of pleasing a few of your customers and ******* off a whole bunch of others. Maybe you should think of a more equitable way of doing promotions in future.

O please

If the HDD wasn't on offer you would have bought elsewhere anyway, thats basically the reason you signed up to the forum.

And you are still posting here so looks like the offer was a success. just think a few months at a couple of posts a day and you will have free p+p to...

I didnt checked out because the shipping it would have been cheaper for all the things together.I live in Spain, so I don`t have free shipping , and also because I wanted to get them in the same time as they were all for the same system.
