Wow they were gone in less then 20 seconds, started hitting f5 from 1.29. Thought i would at least get to click the add to basket button and loose out during the check out stage but at 1:30:15 all gone.

Great bargain for those who was lucky enough to grab one oh well back to my original plan of a Samsung f3 1tb

LOL @ people STILL going on about not getting one. It is not your god given right is it now?

64 people got them, you didn't. Get over it and better luck to us all next time!

Guess who forgot about this... :(

Chances are it wouldn't have mattered!

I think the problem here is 50 units is far too limited a number for the scale of the promotion. A good way to try to bring in more customers and forum members, but ultimately flawed. Trouble is I think most of those new customers will be just as frustrated as the rest of us and won't hang around to see the next cheap advertising scheme. :(

People keep mentioning a possible future price drop on these drives anyway as the new version comes out so keep an eye open and maybe there will still be bargains to be had, that's what I'm hoping anyway.

I'd like to thank everyone who tried to take advantage of this offer today. Demand was incredible and with only 50 drives available at this special price there was always going to be more disappointed than happy people.

However, we did say we would offer 50 drives at £79 inc VAT and that's exactly what we did. Furthermore, we actually received 64 orders at the offer price and have decided to honour the special price for every successful order.

I can understand why some people feel disappointed that they missed out, but I'm afraid that's just supply and demand in action. To imply that this is somehow our fault is not being very fair.

Once again, thank you for interest in this offer :)

I get why some people are moaning about the moaning but I think thats probably your fault for doing something you knew would be massively over subscribed.. I'm guessing you thought it was worth the publicity and extra forum memberships and whatever..

My frustration comes from never seeing the things even in stock and the fact the site fell over would suggest to me it was a pretty dumb idea and a good part of the order I was also making went elsewhere as a direct result of the site being down.. you guys do make some odd decisions sometimes tbh.

They were in stock as 64 people can testify :)

As to your last point it is always regrettable when customers take their business elsewhere but our on-line store was only unavailable for a few minutes due to the sheer quantity of people trying to take advantage of this offer. If that was enough for you to shop elsewhere then that is of course your prerogative.

I was one of the people who missed out on this offer due to the checkout process not going so smoothly as usual. Not too bothered anyhow.

Would be very interested in a similar SSD deal though. ;)

Some regulars have claimed a HDD so the deal was true.

it was more the irritation tbh, I should have seen it coming a mile away and I was quite prepared to not get one I just figured it would have wound up being a lottery of who got the order in first ie would have had a chance to at least see them in stock. At what was a seemingly impossible amount of time after 1.30 your site was saying they were out of stock and then the site fell over. Very poor experience IMO and pretty badly thought out.

Of course you don't have any hidden agenda here would you? Like working for a competitor for example?

Your user profile is most interesting.

Nope, I don't work for a competitor I work in the mobile industry and as a rule I buy my IT kit from you!
You do know what your registered email address is here? I won't reveal it but it's pretty obviously a competitor.

have you ever tried to order popular concert tickets when they go on sale?

It's exactly the same experience. Maybe you werent interested in a hard drive, but you will find if you go on a concert site and try and order Donny Osmond tickets during the hour period where Muse have just started selling tickets, you've not got a snowballs chance in hell.

And now if you were interested in a hard drive, and were just an unlucky customer, Then that's kinda tough.

How much advanced notice did OCUK give people they were doing this? 2 Weeks?

And you decided to try and make your purchase during this time? Not really an OCUK fail

yeah I know that, I helped them set up but I don't work for them... you could also no doubt see what email is registered to my shop account, thats where I work.

And thats got nothing to do with it, you've got 13 pages of mixed views here it would be a very poor attempt at stirring things up if I was so inclined which I'm clearly not by the fact I spend so much time here!

I'm venting because I was surprised I never saw the things in stock and I need a new HDD!

OK, I can understand that.

I guess my frustration is I spend a lot of my time figuring out whether something is a good idea ie will I have enough stock for it (I deal with a big mobile phone company about a mile from your h/o) etc and I would have seen this a mile away... pre registering for a lottery or whatever would have been a better and calmer way to harvest customer data than having your site fall over and then have customers getting mixed results/stuck in checkout etc etc..

Just my 2p, no axe to grind tbh.

We did prepare for this quite well but it did exceed expectations by a mile, makes the MSI promo look like a normal few minutes on the website.

64 people are very happy and everyone else all I will say is keep your eyes peeled on the deals forum in the future. ;)
