3080 / 3090 / 3070 Gigabyte Eagle Gaming OC & Vision Power Connector Concerns

I got mine today (Gaming OC) and its a week 42, but unfortunately it has the bad connector. I am really confused by what I am reading here, I don't know if I should RMA it or not. The connectors, latched correctly after a bit of wiggle, I pull them and they don't come out.
I tested on RDR2 and furmark with an overclock and I don't have any crashes so far. Card goes to 2030mhz on furmark and 1990-2010 on RDR2.
gpuz states percap reason as PWR on RDR2 and vrel vop on furmark. Interestingly, the TDP on gpuz is from 89-93% only on both scenarios...
Should it go to 100%? I am thinking there is headroom for 2030+ but it can't pull enough power? Temperatures are under 65o so its not thermal throttling. My power supply is an EVGA 850W and the whole system pulls 500W from the wall on RDR2 and 480W when running furmark.

Anyone with the Gaming OC on the good connector to share their numbers? I have been waiting since May for this upgrade, I don't want to RMA it with no real reason... I don't plan to disconnect it until its time for upgrade, and it was not really that bad connecting it in the first place... There is also the 4 year warranty on this model which I really appreciate compared to the other models.

Have you seen this picture ? https://ibb.co/zZ3s1XT

if you look trow the backplate can you see something similar as the picture above, that plastic that aparently they put on the cables-connector

I got today the Gaming OC and I have 43 week on my card, and got this little plastic I think, or at least is what I can see in my card.
https://ibb.co/hsMknGw

My card also got all the pins on place since beggining, I tested to plug in/plug out few times the connector and all good so far.

Check that what I marked on the last picture, if u have that, u got the fixed connector.

PS: Why you think you got the bad connector, or had some troubles ?

Thanks for your reply bro. My connectors are like in the last picture also. TBH it wasn't much harder to connect the 8pins than usual. Even on my previous graphics card i needed a few tries because of the 6-8pin combo latch. Based on the 1st post I thought that if you have just a ziptie (without heat shrink) its the bad connector. I don't think the power limitations I get on RDR2 are because of the card, probably just the game. I will test with more games later. I don't have any crashes or issues, temperatures are great and its pretty quiet. What you said seems comforting, hope its true! I don't want to RMA it, I like it...

Best photos I’ve seen so far thank you. From what I can tell my WK42 3090 Gaming OC has the new connectors but if anyone disagrees let me know. A little hard to tell but it certainly looks more like the newer connector.

I'm trying to add an image/imgur link of my card but it's not working, just gives me the broken image icon. Maybe because I'm very new here? Either that or user error! If I can figure it out I'll post the pic of my connector.

EDIT: For now here's a link to my connector pic - https://ibb.co/NNXMrkk

I have definitely found the difference between old connectors and new connectors.

On my card 43 week looks like there is new connector

@boffer
Yes looks the same so enjoy it, nice that they finnaly did something to fix it (i want to think so) I guess you did have 0 problems right ?
I had lucky on mine that the plug in and out the connectors is very smooth from the beggining, all pins correct position.

@lambrosgg
I tested furmark 1.22.2 on 1920*1080 with 4x AA and my card stay between 98% - 106% TPD but I guess thats because the configuration, If you dont have problems all good you dont need to worry about

Yeah so far I haven't had any problems the card runs great! When I installed it I was not aware of this issue, and I don't recall having any problems during installation. I recently ordered those completely unnecessary Lian Li Strimer RGB power cables, that's when a friend pointed me to this thread. When they arrive I'll post here if I have any issues doing the cable swap. Thanks again for those pics super helpful.

Well just got today in my hands the RTX 3070 Gaming OC SN "2043" and all pins are very straight and easy to insert the PSU power cable. I have put it in and out a few times, to check that no pin is gone backwards, and everything seems correct and they are in place.

I think I have the power box fixed exactly as the GIGA REP shows us in this photo.

Mine you can see that is looks very similar.

just to be clear, new connectors without the heat shrink have no problem yet to be found?

The heat srink was just a temporary fix and rush at the begging when they just realized the issue with a lot of card beeing returned for same reason.

After little enginering....they comes with the new adapter connectors wich I guess is holding very hard the wire cables to not pull of.

I got a 3080 Eagle with SN 2042 and I have the same issue as mentioned before, its almost impossible for me to connect the power cable to the right 8 pin socket at all. Looking at it further there's 2 bent pins on the 1st 2 sockets and a 3rd bent pin in the top right as well. I've tested it with multiple cables and GPU's and the other GPU's all connect fine and smooth no issue, but the 3080 has a lot of resistance to the point where I'm not physically comfortable applying that much force so I've sent a mail too for an RMA. Overall I'm not sure what the scale or number of instances the issue is occurring for SN 2039+ but I can confirm at least that I have the issue.

Can you check whether yours has the new adaptor or old one?

It looks like I have the new adaptor since it has the small tab at the top and front of the connector as shown in the reference images on the front page, but I can't for the life of me get the power cable to connect at all
Thanks for the info. That is what I was worrying about. Is it possible to have some photos about the connectors with those tabs as well as the bent pins?

BTW I did some investigation and found out the possible root of why gigabyte has chosen to use these adaptors rather than traditional soldered connectors.

This won't help users fixing the problem at all. People who have ever suffered by this should have the right to know the truth of what happened. I hope I won't get banned again lol.

Apologises in advance, I have a ****** old phone so pics wont be super high res!

In the pins pic you can see the bottom left pin looks like its come loose of the metal frame its hanging on and in the top right the entire pin is mushed (and i've not even applied any force when trying to connect the power cables).
Thanks but the tab cant be seen at this angle.
