All crying about 10GB you guys are wasting your time, 12GB is the 3080Ti max, so up to you if you want to wait for 2GB more, the Ti in my book is about more performance not more Vram. If the fabled 20GB 3080Ti comes out then expect to pay close to £1k+ as it is basically really close to a 3090 that sells £1.4k.
It was pointed out in another thread that 2GB GDDR6X chips won't exist until next year. So as you said, the only way to go above 12GB before then is to adopt the 3090 form factor.

The 3080Ti will be 16GB GDDR6x. For £949 for the Founders Card. (AIB's add £150-200) If the Radeon RX6000 series is on par or better than the RTX3080. (I think it will be.) Expect 2.1Ghz+ on the core and 16Gb (HBM2e) Big Navi will command a big price for the Flagship GPU. £1000+

Team green will have a refresh super variant on sale by next March. For all sku's. Maintaining their dominance.

RDNA3 will be on sale 3rd quarter 2022. buh bai Nvidia.

The Titan has always an Nvidia-only part, so there might well be a Titan that sits above the 3090; the price difference, the clock speeds, the 24gbs of ram the 3090 looks like a Titan to me; but this is the Titan they'll let 3rd parties make. There's no way they'll leave a gap of 14gb between their two high end cards, regardless of vram speed 10gb it barely enough for 4k or greater resolutions, I'd put money on a 16-20gb Ti before the end of the year, for the people running 4k+ monitors or high end VR headsets.

which high end VR game will choke on a 3080?

Genuine question as my Valve Index doesn't struggle with a measly 2080. I'd love to see the specific games you're mentioning which require 16-20GB of VRAM.

When is the 3080ti going to launch according to people's predictions?

do they normally launch a couple of months after the xx80 or a year after?

I checked and 1080 released may 2016, 1080ti released march 2017..... that is a big big big wait. in that time i would have completed cypberpunk :D

3080ti can't be 16GB, 3080 is 320-bit so options are 10/20, 3090 is 384-bit so options would be 12 or 24... a 3080ti would probably be between the 2 so 352-bit which would mean 11/22gb options

it will be a 12GB variant imho, the card will be used to compete against Big Navi if needed and priced in response. This is the part that will concern AMD if they have to price Big Navi over $650.... If AMD can't compete then I think you'll be waiting a good while for a 3080Ti

I don't know if this will be the 3080Ti or simply a 3080 with 20GB, but the twitter user and NVIDIA leaker @kopite7kimi answered this yesterday:
Q) Any ETA for RTX 3080 20Gb version release? Thanks kopite.
A) I heard someone said it will start selling in October. Just wait.

Interesting, a reply says its the AIB partners using 2gb memory stacks instead of 1gb but I didnt think GDDR6X 2gb stacks were a thing yet? Seems a little dubious that they'd be releasing it in just a months time...

A 20Gb version would be very ideal for those like me who would have been perfectly happy with 3080's performance but only need more VRAM, and an October launch would be amazing!

Why do you need more vram?

Rendering large scenes, I am currently using a 1080ti and having issues loading certain scenes due to RAM limitations. The 3080 would be perfect for me in terms of performance I reckon, its just that it would be a downgrade in terms of ram.
