3090 - was it meant for gamers ?

With its 24 GB of RAM id be thinking it’s bound to be amazing but was it as it doesn’t appear to be much better especially considering the 4090 was so much better.

Was it a poor card ?

it wasnt meant for gamers........... but it was (is) still a decent gaming GPU, its just overkill in certain areas.

to be honest i would counter with actually it was more that the 3080 was an absolutely fantastic gaming gpu (albeit a little skimpy on ram.... but the 3090 had too much for its time just for gaming, it was wasted, 12-16gb was the sweetspot back them imo)

i bought a 3090FE.... but only because it was in the middle of the gpu shortage and i was out in the rain when the drop happened and my phone would not respond when i was trying to order a 3080. by the time it responded the 3080s had all gone.

3090 for gaming is daylight robbery. my condolences to whoever got one

i wouldnt feel too sorry for me, as well as having the best gaming gpu on the market at the time, i also mined in todays money almost £5000 of crypto, more than covering its £1200 cost (iirc). - bear in mind after market 3080s were going for almost that at the time.
mine is still going strong and is allowing me to skip the 4000 generation entirely. i may even skip the 5000 but we shall see. not much has made me feel the need to upgrade yet.
