It's a bit of a joke. AI & machine learning, top tech company with huge processing power and they can't even have an order reservation system in place, ie, once in the process the order can be reserved for a period so you can check out, rather than first one to the end of the process wins and the rest get the middle finger "sorry folks" :D

My missus actually tried ordering before I did; and she refused to believe me that it's out of stock when I told her that.

" But it's still in my cart, and I'm just finishing the payment details to submit!! "

Then bam, same red text for her.
 
Got notified about the US drop, which of course happened after the EU one. Didn’t even realise there was an EU drop until checking this thread. FML.

It was kinda of at a random time alright.

I just happened to sit down and check and noticed instead of saying out of stock it said Check Availabilty.

Still missed it because the site got hammered.

Especially when you get an order number you assume stock has been assigned to the order. I thought I was home and dry :).
if they use a locking/reservation process it might even keep some stock around for a bit longer giving others a chance if some then bail out of the process or if the process times out. Looking at the timestamps above in this thread I think I was a bit late to the party anyway so probably wouldn't have got as far as I did but I'd actually prefer that then getting to the end, entering CC payment details etc then seeing it out of stock.
I've now updated my pwd manager so can get the right password next time first time if I'm lucky enough to spot stock.
Ah well. Back again for more next Thursday eh? :D

Exactly! I had an order number as well!

I have a password manager and everything myself. It just had issues over and over loading that final page, and that killed the time it seems
 
Can anyone confirm that the FE edition only restocks once per week?

Quite fed up that I spent hours refreshing it at 5am, then again at 2pm, and 5pm, then they drop randomly in the evening!

Can't confirm but it's been on a Thursday since launch.

Yeah that's why I wasted my time getting up at 5:30am.

Trying to build a PC having used Macs for years, last tried about 4 years ago and there was a similar fiasco and gave up. So hard to just buy a bloody graphics card it's so infuriating.

It shouldn’t be this difficult to give a company money. I realise it’s not important in the grand scheme of things, but making people F5 constantly for the chance to play the “add to cart” lottery in a 1 minute window while the cards are available is just brutal.

Absolutely, I agree it's obviously not that important in the grand scheme of things. However, the frustration is that you waste hours of your time to spend hundreds of pounds on something, and people who are just setting up scripts or bots just them with no effort. It really makes me resent Nvidia because I think this is just carefully manufactured hype. There's definitely a huge demand, but I don't buy for a second that they didn't predict it. They knew this would happen and are encouraging it imo.
 
The silver lining is if it restocks next Thursday that's the time AMD have their press conference? Atleast you'll be able to feel better about your decision..

I bet there are suddenly loads of stock during AMDs conference :D

I would rather just buy a card now, if the AMD stuff is great it'll just be the same ******** all over again.

Would be nice! but GPU conference is end of the month, 28th! Next week is CPUs!
