After a couple of months of messing about with underclocks, case fans and case fan speeds to try and keep my 3090 FE cool and quiet I finally bowed to the inevitable and took the glass out of the front of my case. The filter is still on.
Just did an hour of cyberpunk at 4K 60 with RT Ultra and HDR on. Card at 1950/900. Max temps were 67.5 core and 96 junction. Case fans, AIO fans and GPU fans all hit less than 1200rpm.
As a famous philosopher once said, 'That'll do pig.'
or in other words your case has crap airflow in at the front.
Yup my case has crap air flow at the front. But I bought it knowing that because I liked the look of it.
The GN review showed around a 10 degree difference with the front off. It was workable with the old card but not the 3090.
Now it's essentially the same set up as a P500A, which I should have bought to begin with.

Which case do you have?
That is what I found with the cooling (or lack of) on my setup - it was workable with the 1070 - not so much with the 3070.
There’s loads for sale on the auction site and FB Marketplace. Depends how much your left ball is worth I guess.I'd sell my left ball to get an FE. Unicorn gpus for sure. One of the only ones that'll fit it my HTPC. All the others seem massive
I found that even though I had plenty of exhaust fans, GPU, 360 AIO in the top, PSU and a 140 in the back the air coming out was getting hotter and hotter over an extended playing session. Now I'm getting air in it all works as expected. What did you have to do?
Id have to sell both for scalper prices atm. Maybe a kidney alsoThere’s loads for sale on the auction site and FB Marketplace. Depends how much your left ball is worth I guess.
I've got the same cable from same place and had it basically since launch it is fine lolTLDR - bought a foreign 12 pin to psu cable for a 3090 FE, PC didn't explode.
Ordered from a place that sounds like it's for mods that you do yourself. Price was £24.10 through Paypal and taking advantage of a free shipping offer. Cable took 16 days to arrive.
Visually the sleeving looks exactly the same as the cables that came with my Asus Thor PSU. Cable very flexible. No cable combs provided but I cut a couple of the 24 hole ones that came with my PSU down to size. Uses 6 wires from each of the PSU plugs into the 12 pin.
Fit into the PSU was fine, required a good push into the card. No audible click like the supplied adaptor but seems solid.
Pc booted fine, illuminted GeForce logo seems a couple of notches less bright. I used to turn it down in ICue anyway.
Did AC Valhalla for a couple of hours. Reported power draw was the same as with the Nvidia adaptor at 350w ish. Neither the cable or plugs felt particularly warm. Cable is slightly less ugly than the hell spawned abomination that came with the card.

Was watching a vid the other day that was explaining just how high quality the Nvidia 12pin cable is, because basically it has to carry 600Watts of power! Just be careful man, that's a fair bit for it to be even remotely dodgy!!
