30xx Series Founders Edition

gutted I thought I was in, shame it doesn’t give you a time limit with allocated stock to checkout once added to basket

That would make too much sense, the system right now is just jam your info in as quick as humanly possible and pray that someone is slower than you.

That was quite a quick re-drop of 3080s, historically speaking. Only a gap of 16 days, compared to the 25 and 43 days for the previous two. Seemed to have a decent number too, as lots of people were posting order emails on Discord and reporting getting one even after captcha troubles and credit card verification issues. Maybe the stock situation is improving a little.

Yup. I succumbed: 3090 incoming. Yes, I know the 3080 Ti will be almost as good for hundreds of pounds less, but I think the 3090 will have greater longevity.

I had similar problems ordering from OCUK. Apparently they're a target for scammers and stolen credit cards.

Nice, enjoy the beast. Well chuffed with my pair, build quality is superb and the cooler on air is very nice.

I do not think the 3090 will last much longer then the 3080Ti, If the core is going to be close to the 3090 minus the memory. That said, not having to deal with the extra faff, having the card and avoiding inevitable chaos that will be the 3080Ti launch and having card in hand is worth the couple of extra £100 quid IMO.

Yep, it’s such a rubbish system. I just don’t think they can be bothered to add in anything that might help as they sell the cards whatever happens.

Assuming my card arrives on Friday, I'll have a 2060 super going but I don't want to sell it on those auction sites. What's next best way to sell it to a fellow gamer? This is all theoretical at moment!

From what I heard from a member of staff its a major headache as it is. They have same issue as OCUK of over ordering. Then they have the problem of payment authorisation taking hours instead if minutes. Cant see this have changed much since December. On top of this trying to fend off thousands of bot attempts etc.

MM but I don’t think you have access.

Maybe AVF but chance you’ll encounter someone on there who will resell.

Hey thanks newuser - I have 6 case fans and front and top panels off bugpu noise.t it still struggles. At a certain point I'm just replacing the GPU fan noise with case fan noise! Core's never been an issue for me - just the memory.

You're welcome, I know what you mean about trading case fan noise for gpu noise. If it struggles with that set up I'd suspect you have a misapplied or dodgy pad on the ram. I was struggling with core and ram. Fans seem to come in hard at 70 core and 104 junction. I'd try RMAing it before potentially voiding the warranty, tell them you're rendering on it - that makes you a prosumer and thus the target audience and more likely to be spending big on hardware. Tell them that others in your peer group with similar set ups and workloads aren't having the same runaway fan issues (more sales). Their cs is variable so don't be fobbed off on the first attempt. They're all friendly enough but the last time I put a decent order in and had issues before they'd even dispatched the stuff it took a few goes until I spoke with someone with the wit and authority to do something about it. If you get another card and it's as bad then you can swap the pads.

For reference, I'm noise averse although I expect some while rendering. I've got 3 x ML140s in the front and one in the back because that's all I could find four of at the time. The fan curves top out at 1500 but they never go above 1300. I've got a 10700k at 4800 all core with a 360 aio in the roof that stays in the 70s with 3 noctuas topping out at 1200. The gpu fans never go above 1400. It isn't silent but it's no worse than my 4790k and 1080 was.

I'm not so sure. My Maxwell Titan X is still a decent card thanks to the extra VRAM.

I wish I'd had it 9 months ago, but I baulked at the price. Little did I know...
