30xx Series Founders Edition

I'm not so sure. My Maxwell Titan X is still a decent card thanks to the extra VRAM.

I wish I'd had it 9 months ago, but I baulked at the price. Little did I know...

I think the Titan Maxwell still being solid is by virtue of it being a solid card in general. Got a bunch of 1080Tis also here and still very good cards but more thanks to the core in general. Don't mistake me, the extra Vram on the 3090 is nice, but in most instances by time 3080Ti (if its largely same core but 12GB) runs out of grunt the 3090 will not be far behind, still its a beast and you will be impressed with performance gap. When I go from 3090 rig to 1080Ti, perf gap is massive.

Probably the last lot before the LHR cards drop i reckon...

Actually could be getting worse for FE model!!!!! Apparently Nvidia are not doing Anti-Mining chips for FE models!

https://www.pcgamer.com/nvidia-lhr-cards-no-founders-edition/

OC3D suggest could be a sign given most models aside 3090 switching to LHR, means that lower end FE models could go away as bill of materials is pretty high: https://www.overclock3d.net/news/gp...mining_rtx_lhr_series_founders_edition_gpus/1

Could be if all production of models other the 3090 are going LHR: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2021/...&ranSiteID=kXQk6.ivFEQ-spshKx2FzS6ZZNXjTAufgA combine that with them saying FE's will never be LHR, may be a tacit way of saying going forward we may only see 3090FE models possibly as suggested in articles. Other models Bill of materials is too high to keep producing FE model.

I know there is some rule that says you can only own one FE, but is that just for the 3000 series?

Surely it wont extend to the 4000 and beyond?

Well if you got in early could have loads :p

In seriousness, All going to depend on stock really. I suspect the FE models will now be extremely desirable in general as they are MSRP and superb build quality so will always be in extreme demand. So would not surprise me even next gen at least at start if FE models are limited.

Yeah, I've been lurking for over 8 years so I've not hit the magical 1000 post. Oh well, thems the rules.

Similar, I've got a vaguely useful gpu and a very good one that someone on here could find a use for. You'd think they would relax the rules a bit considering the situation we find ourselves in.

Do we think LHR would affect rendering?
Very unlikely. The 3060's mining limiter was just a blacklist of Ethereum mining, which only kicked in when that was detected. Not some universal nerf to the GPU. You could even mine other coins just fine. They've respun the silicon this time, but the purpose of that is to change the device ID so that they won't work with older drivers, requiring the use of a new driver with mining blocked. I haven't seen any suggestion that there have been further changes beyond that.

I didn’t think the FE cards were going to be limited?
They said they're not making LHR FEs. The exact quote was:
"Founders Edition is a limited production graphics card sold at MSRP," Nvidia told us this afternoon, "and at this point we don’t have plans to make versions with LHR."
Which suggests to me that once the stock of non-LHR FEs is gone, that's it for the FEs in general. Otherwise they wouldn't have mentioned it being a "limited production" product.

Limited sure. But just because I own a 3000 series FE hopefully wont mean I cant buy a 4000 series FE.

I doubt it will carry over like that, across gen, or hope not!. I mean they will likely try to limit you to one FE model like they are doing now, rather then prior to January this year when you could buy as many FEs at your hearts content provided you could snap it up.

btw, it's possible the other SKU's will drop tomorrow, and/or more of today's. no guarantees, but it's happened before, and a late-in-the-day drop may mean they haven't processed everything. keep an eye out tomorrow.

It's not like we'd risk losing these fairly old accounts to fleece a peer. Oh well, too many scammers.
