30xx Series Founders Edition

I had to completely re-configure my case to fit my 3090 - remove all the drive cages to put it into an open case configuration, and move the drives to new locations including behind the backplate. Nearly a complete re-wire too, just to get the wires neat and tidy. Was worth the hassle though.

Yeah I figured it wouldn't be long for someone to suggest replacing it :) I do like the case, but wouldn't say no to joining the 21st century and having some front USB ports.

You were probably using that thing to kick my ass in quakeworld - defo time for an upgrade :p
Haha - I still play QW several times a week, should get good frames with a 3090 :)

I managed to drill out the rivets and remove the offending piece of steel this evening, took about half an hour but most of that was figuring out the right drill bit to use. So I can at least give it a go in this case using the top PCIE slot, due to arrive tomorrow.

Is anyone going to try to upgrade to the 3080 ti on launch day ?
Unless one can make that change at no or negative cost... seems pointless.

Its hardly ever worth upgrading from 1 gen to the one directly after it.... let alone from a 80 model to its ti or super variant.

Only makes any sense if the cost to change is very low or actually negative. (As maybe the non-LHR cards will command a premium?)

Yep I got no interest in the ti, the best thing about the ti is it will offer a alternative to the 3080 thats cheaper than the 3090 for those who cant get a 3080, assuming there is a FE variant, as the AIB version will probably cost more than 3090 FE.

Currently waiting on my 3090 FE to arrive, sometime in the next 2 hours. Hesitant to put it into current PC (replacing my 1080 Ti) as the PSU is 8 years old at this point and I'm not sure where I put all the modular cables... Will be buying the rest of the nw PC next week so will just try to be strong. Also I'm not playing anything right now that needs the 3090...
