This is what I understood by what Nvidia was saying regarding LHR cards and what they will be doing from May 2021, basically all cards will be LHR apart from 3090s. But as you guys are saying I have a feeling 3080FE cards will just not be made anymore and only AIBs will exist which will be LHR and even the 3090s may soon vanish too as they are damaging Nvidias Quadro range to the point they banned AIBs making 3090 blower cards (of course Nvidia did this silently) that are nice to use in servers and workstations with lots of gpus in.
We just need some one to pull off the cooler on some more recent 3080s to see the GPU version number on the FEs and AIBs will for sure have LHR on their box.
Also if 3080FE models get cancelled, we may see Nvidia do a 3080 Super FE that will be LHR and raise the price to what they think it should have cost and use chips that are not good enough for the 3080Ti but better than the 3080 chips to fill that tiny gap again and same for the 3070 FE and make a Super FE LHR. Who knows really the whole generation of gpus this time is a real mess with pricing and performance gaps.
The 3080 Ti to me is the worst highend Ti ever for price and performance increase over the 80 card below it. Normally we would get 25-35% increase, now it's 10% and double the price.
