Ah, sussed it! Ok, this is what I have so far. 3080 is looking a bit lonely right now!
I'm thinking up to £1000 to finish the build by next weekend hopefully. I'm thinking x570 Tomohawk mobo, 32 gb ram, M.2 ssd.
For the cpu, should I go 3700x or wait for the 5600x?
It will be my first self build, so I welcome your thoughts and opinions.

What idle temperatures is everyone hitting with the 3080 FE?

Mines is circa 50 degrees at 30% fan speed which is a little bit higher than I expected.

According to my timespy benchmarks I get an average of 67C overclocked with stock fan during the benchmark run. And it's by no means loud. Quite impressive by that to be fair.

mine idles between 30-40 and is between 65-73 at full load with the power draw slider maxed. That is with 60% fans which are fairly loud but funny enough not an annoying sound.

Wait for the 5600x reviews, it’s highly likely to be the better bet for gaming.

42c to 44c with custom fan curve that runs at 40% when over 40c

Yeah, any idea when they are lifting the embargo? It's paining me so much just looking at the 3080. Not long to wait now though I suppose...The 6 week wait to get the card is over at least.

No-one knows as yet, hardware unboxed mentioned they had cpu reviews coming up this week, so helpfully the reviews will come out before the release of the chips.

50 at idle seems high... 30% fan speed, is that a custom curve?
I run on balanced power settings, not had issues with it clocking up fully when required, although some may have and use max performance power setting.

0mhz is a lie

screenshot timing, its 210 idle 17w power avg, 0/7 volt..

Which software are you using?

I'm currently using MSI Afterburner, I can't seem to get my card to idle on desk and appears to be running at full speed

Sure hope so. A little earlier than Nvidia's reviews came out with any luck. With the talk of lockdown, I thought a better get my order in for all my components which are coming tomorrow. Just the CPU needed now, so I can relax a bit. Lockdown from Thursday though, so hopefully that's not going to cause problems.

Yeah, I didnt think it would be a issue, but the thought of sitting on the 3080 FE without a PC for it go in for a month got me worried
