30xx Series Founders Edition

Finding some older games result in the fans ramping up to higher speeds and very audible for some reason - not related to frame rate as I've already eliminated that and/or some of them are still graphically intensive enough they aren't running at 100s of FPS anyhow.

I played all though CP2077 and barely heard a noise out of my 3070FE - but playing some older stuff like City of Heroes after awhile fans ramp right up - sometimes just for a minute or two other times until I close the game.

Not sure what is going on there as it doesn't seem related to frame rate, thermals, etc.

Memory junction temperature?

The whole normal point of enthusiasts and gaming is to be able to turn all the settings to max

I'd say the opposite is true. If all we wanted to do was have fixed settings then we might as well buy a console. A gaming enthusiast will spend time tweaking the settings to achieve the best performance for their particular bespoke set up. Then they can free up some headroom to install SweetFX, ENBs, Mods etc..

As any enthusiast will tell you, some settings could be turned down to improve performance, depending on the intended purpose (FPS, eye candy, non standard resolution etc.)

And yea... people wouldnt accept this in other goods they buy. Imagine being told by car manufacture that your warranty is void because you changed the oil yourself.

Oh come on, at least attempt to get the analogy accurate. Oil is a consumable; there are no consumables with a GPU only component parts.

If you want to try the car analogy then imagine the door squeaked every time you opened or closed it, so you decided to fit your own hinge. 6 months later you try to claim for a new door via warranty because the door you have just fell off.

Good luck with that. ;)

The memory is rated for 105C by micron so is there even any need to change the pads outside of mining since gaming probably won't run over those temps and changing them is not going give any extra fps in games.

I've mined and gamed on my card and both use cases see the memory hit 100-106C. No way am I replacing pads; if the card starts having issues then I'll RMA it in the knowledge that I didn't tamper with it in any way. It's down to Nvidia to ensure the components can handle the heat.

Haven't you found self-employed yet?

Yea, for self employed you can substitute "employer" for "client".

Try getting a plumber in to fit your new bathroom suite and then watch him consistently surf the net trying to pick up a GPU every time the telegram alert on his phone goes ping. Of course, you'll be happy to pay him for another half shift as the job has taken longer than expected. ;)

No mention of LHR on the box, and or included at the end of the serial/part number on my card.

As previously mentioned, I haven't seen any mention of LHR on my 3060ti order although someone mentioned that they were excluded - which I find a little bit strange as they are the most efficient cards for mining.

Anyway, I'll test mine when it arrives on Monday and see what it's putting out in terms of hash rate.
