Anyone know what "flicker safe" means?
Its the same a flicker free its just lg have worded it flicker safe lol
So, what's your first impressions? Was so bored with myself angst ing over monitors I took the plunge and ordered this. Arriving today. Will report back later.
So, despite being quite prepared to dislike it, I'm actually really impressed. So, what's your first impressions?

At first, the sheer size of the thing freaked me out a bit. Played a few games of Heroes of the Storm and was like, ack, this is too big for me to take in. Having sat with it a while now and adapted a bit, it really is growing on me. Shove it to the back of your desk (normal size) and it really nicely fills your vision. Image quality, both in terms of IPS v VA, and 1440 over 32 v 27, styands up really well actually. My partner has an Acer Predator XB271HU on an adjacent desk, and they have started making envious sounds looking over at the LG. You do loose a bit in resolution detail and pure pop of the image quality, but traded off against the extra real estate, and the fact that game assets have just extra room to breath, it does feel like a step-up in overall quality.
FPS and action games work really well - if youre a pro Moba player you might struggle a bit with the size (as you do have to look to focus on edges of the display), but shuffling back a few inches really does help (also orientating the monitor a smidge higher).
The 165 overclock and gsycn works flawlessy - it really is silky smooth.
Ive noticed a slight bit of ghosting on some scenes in Vermintide 2 (black characters against snowy backgrounds), but this has been rare, and not enough to be a dealbreaker.
So, all in it does feel like a nice upgrade on the XB271HU. The extra screen real estate does feel really luxurious (and looking over at the 27 inch IPS, it does suddenly seem quite pokey). I think on the back of this I'm going to cancel the Alienware aw3418dw, as a: its taking forever, b: I'm not entirely sold on the ultrawide aspect ratio - everytime ive tried it at gaming expos etc the slight fish-eye effect for FOV has left me with a mild nausea feeling, and c: it's an extra 300 quid.
Great feedback, thanks. What is the depth of your desk so I can make comparison with mine?
75cm deep here, so it isnt massive by any means.
Noticed a little bit more of the sort of ghosting effect - again, nothing major, but maybe something to bear in mind if youre very specific re image quality.

I just bought one of these and have to say I am greatly impressed. I went from LG Ultrawide freesync IPS to this due to buying a new PC and got to say I haven't been disappointed at all. Easy to set up, solid on my desk. . .trust me this isn't moving unless I actually pick it up, build quality is really good and to be honest haven't really noticed any difference in colours etc moving from an IPS to a VA. Hats off to LG, I was impressed with the previous monitor from them and am more so with this one.
A week in, and ive really settled with the screen - really happy with my purchase, and think id really struggle to go back to 27 inch now.
edit*
I really want to know about the perceived solidity of movement with this screen - i really cant stand the motion blur from 60hz screens, and this is an expensive upgrade.
I play a lot of platformers and cannot stand how movement blurs the image, where characters and backgrounds phases and splits when moving - is this eliminated with this panel?
what about ghosting or coronas from overshoot?
i need it also for non professional graphics work so I like some kind of decent blacks and non washed out colours
overshoot can really kill the experience.
What other monitors have you had and how would you compare them in terms of pixel response/motion clarity(this includes smearing). I find the monitor quite interesting but i'm also very intolerable about certain things. The last samsung panel i had was a va and that thing was overshooting so bad i almost threw it out the window in angerAgreed, not a fan of overshoot myself. Have found that the 'Faster' setting gives a little, but the 'Fast' setting is more preferable to me

Well I came from the PG348Q which is an UW IPS as you know. I'm not particularly sensitive to overshoot but the 'Fastest' setting on the LG was giving me a fair bit and something I was noticing (even browsing the OcUK forums on the dark setting), but the switch to 'Fast' seems to have made it go away. In comparison to the Asus I'm loving the switch to the LG, if only for the higher hz gaming paired with a Ti
