360-watchdog

Thats such an old stereo-type!!!

The chinese are not like that at all, we have manufacturing facilities out in China, as well as Chinese engineers, and whilst I fully understand where that view comes from, it's just not that applicable anymore..

This debacle is due to a design issue, not because of the geographical location in which it was made..
I can think of several companies that moved production to china only to move it back again because of low build quality.
Some chinese product is very poor, some is not. I am suprised that MS product is bad build quality and wonder if it is design or some internal process eg the solder flow baths that are at fault. It might simply be poor build quality or even espionage.

I waited a year for the hardware issues to resolve themselves.

I was on my 3rd 360 within as many weeks, the 3rd one works but is so noisy I rarely bother to turn it on anymore, i think I will probably sell it actually... :o

Overall im disgusted by the hardware.

had a 360 for 3 weeks and it died, i wasnt happy, had to make numerous phone calls and got messed about,
took the pile of junk back to the shop demanded a refund and got one, sorry but i know many who have had 2-3 consoles within a year to 18mths
its just not worth the hassle, it has obvious design faults , shame

This is exactly the senario that i do not wish to be in and why i stayed away from a 360. if the console is only £100 then probably i won't feel so bad but paying over £200 for a premium i just couldn't accept it.

See regardless of what people think, just a few of the views above will be badly hurting the xbox for future consoles. If the 360 hadve been reliable they coulodve made serious in roads into the ps3 sales.

MS have blown in imho.

Well this watchdog report coupled with the fact that you still cannot get a Wii for love nor money, may actually help the PS3's Uk launch!

I'm so immature :( I got a mental picture of Snake sneaking into MS then. Terrible

Hehehe well it is a possibility, more so in places like india or china than here.
The very word "sabotage" comes from similar acts of putting "a spanner in the works" or more accurately a "clog" in the works.

We already know that certain indian call centers have staff there who are happy to sell your bank details on so it is possible that the production at the chinese MS plant is being deliberately sabotaged. I'm not suggesting that it IS what is going on, but it remains possible.

I wonder though out of the 10 million sold how many have really been returned and are the same bunch of duff units being reworked, returned and reworked? Or is new, genuine new, product suffering the same problems.

Are you sure? Nothing mentioned on the website. Chip and Pin, and Powergen are gonna be on.

I was over on the xbox.com forums and came across a thread that said the the 360 was to feature on watchdog next tuesday. apparently some people have reported that there is a high failure rate amongst the consoles.

Yeah its funny that after the console has been out for over a year they decide to go on Watchdog about them being faulty just weeks before the PS3 launch.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Controversial

It was good to see they got a couple of attractive gamers to make their point :p

It was still a bit of a waste of time microsoft just gave there normal answers.
But maybe it will make them think a bit more since it was on tv.
Bad press like that is not good for any company.

I think what is more likely is that most people were forgiving in the first year (most units get swapped out at retail and the others get dealt with by MS in a timely fashion, apparently).

Now a lot of people's machines are out of warranty they are getting more miffed? Makes more sense then your conspiracy theory!!
