3700x temps

Hi try this:

In power management Set pc to ryzen balanced and set the max cpu usage to 99%.(advanced options) that drops power to .9v while idle and knocks about 15 degrees of of temp.

Wait a while for new bioses etc controls the voltage a bit better.

From watching a few videos (including the delidding one) it kinda sounds like the IHS is milled too deeply on the inside and the solder has pooled in places. Makes sense when people say despite high temps their cooler is cool or only just warm to touch.

Yea, this was all last night and also a bit of squeaky bum time. Just done some benches and im ranging from 38 upto 76 degrees with the fan on high. I assume the hi/low just limits how fast the fan spins, as at times it stops:eek:.

Just get some MX-4 while saving for a better cooler. Also play with the power plans in Windows. Use both Ryzen Master and Windows plans and see which works best. Try Window' Balance as a start. Set min processor state to about 80%. I use 25% for old Ryzens.

Spread the paste.

My temps are fairly high - right now it's sitting on the desktop doing a few spotify / browser things (less than 10% in total across all threads) at 47c. I played an hour or so of Watch Dogs 2 and it hit 75c (at 4.25GHz on all cores). Annoyingly MSI afterburner doesn't give the option to show the CPU temp in the On Screen Display!

The constant ramping up and down of the fan when doing pretty much anything on the desktop is annoying. I left my PC to re-download a bunch of games yesterday and put it onto Windows Power Saver mode which shut it up.

I'm using a Silverstone AR01 which is a fairly basic 120mm "standing" heatsink and fan combo. I might swap it for two slower Noctuas, or just buy a better cooler.

I just set my CPU fans to a constant speed , the fan fluctuating was irritating.

My CPU is at 50c idle... have not checked it in games yet as Temp wasn't being displayed in Afterburner (not updated yet it seems for Ryzen 3000)

Can someone put a list of steps to consider/check to see how to lower this.
There's a bunch in this thread but not in one place and not everyone is sure. I wouldn't mind it if was with a stock cooler but the fact that I have a Kraken x72 mounted (plus thermal pad instead of paste) on it does not please me that it's around the 50'sC temp wise and I could have just bought or used the stock cooler.

- Ryzen 5 3700x
- Gigabyte AORUS Ultra X570
- Kraken x72 with Innovation Cooling IC Graphite Thermal Pad
- All up-to-date m/b firmware
- GTX Nvidia 1070

I have a 280mm AIO.

I'm about 45 degrees Idle, 75 degrees full load and 80 degrees with small fft load.

Far from great but I'm happy as its not throttling and is boosting well in typical medium loads such as gaming.

Your CPU isn't 50 degrees. Kraken CAM software isn't working correctly with Ryzen 3000 yet. It always just says 50 degrees. - https://support.camwebapp.com/forum...ons/38089969-x570-aorus-master-wrong-cpu-temp
Use Ryzen master to see real temps. P.S. my temps above are with an X62

There has to be something seriously broken on the software side here. I have it sitting on power saver all morning, its quiet and cool-ish at 40c. I switch it to Balanced and it immediately jumps to 65+c; the volts and clock speed jump up. But I'm not doing anything on the desktop!

I think I'll leave it on power saver. I noticed this dropped the volts from 1.48 to 1.35 when running Cinebench. Clock speed was the same but I scored a couple of hundred fewer points.

I wish I could just leave it on balanced and never think about it like i used to on my haswell PC

Thought I would post in this thread also. I have a 3700x , just installed today with a budget Coolermaster Lite 120 AIO.

With PBO it is idling at about 39c-40c and load in games it hits about 75c at 4375 mhz - volts hitting about 1.45
Without PBO it is idling at 39-50c and load in games still around 75 but at 4225 mhz - volts hitting about 1.36

Does this look ok guys? I'm happy to leave it as is if it looks ok as I'm not a huge tinkerer.

B450 Tomahawk with latest bios.

Well I'd keep an eye on BIOS's etc as there maybe enahnacements as they develop, reading from other owners and those more knowledgable that I that there are some elements that they think aren't working properly, or at all, particularly on older chipsets.
