3800x thread.

It was with the Rainforest one and I said not reaching advertised clock speeds
I see, it was just out of curiosity. Mine luckily works fine. Yesterday I put the CPU at 4.30Ghz, 1.300v and it was working fine. Ran a few C20, Aida64 Stability Test, Mem Test and it was perfectly stable. Left it in Auto though since my CPU boosts properly.

I managed also to set it at 4.325 at 1.325v

It seems impossible to have 4.4

Last time I checked I can do 4.45Ghz all core overclock but I need more than 1.300 voltage to run it. I haven't tried how much it can pull at 1.325v. I have also managed to run 5.575Mhz on 1 CCX just fine.

I wonder if I need a x570 motherboard to squish the last bit of the chip

Which LLC are you guys using for both CPU and SOC ?

Can anyone explain to me what does the scalar means? the x4... etc? I don't see any difference

Thanks

That would seem to be a good overclock going by that table. Is Load Line at default? What vcore do you get at high load all cores?

I have 1.375v set in the bios with LLC set to level 5, that way the voltage droops to 1.325v under all core full load.

At stock though, my 3800x was running something stupid idle and single core and then only dropping between 1.3 and 1.33v all core fully loaded, but the freq was dropping to something like 4.1 or 4.2ghz max across all cores, so although ive lost a little speed where single thread boost is concerned, because it used to boost to 4.5ghz single core, but then crazy voltages upto 1.5v, my multicore speeds are better than stock with a manual overclock.

The SoC is at 1.075v and RAM voltage at 1.4v to keep the fabric and the RAM speed stable.

I have it under custom water cooling by the way, temps are brilliant.

It wouldnt do 4.35ghz, no matter what voltage I tried, but that tiny 25mhz lower was perfectly stable at 4.325ghz, crazy !!!

https://ibb.co/KrjC6BH At stock I am boosting to 4.55GHz. In fact, all my cores at stock are boosting to 4.5GHz.

I am using water and my load temps are very low. Cinebench R15 all core is about 63c. ST @ 51c idle 30c

Latest BIOS is the same. I can even boost to 4.65GHz. Also I have got an all core clock of 4.4GHz so far. I am going to leave it at stock for awhile. Even so an all core overclock @ 4.4GHz is about 64c load in Cinebench R15. I am multi core getting the same as the 9900k in cpu-z. I had to update the BIOS because I play destiny 2. I lose little ST performance at 4.4GHz. Prime 95 FMA3 is 43c blend. Not really going to overclock but 4.3GHz all cores could be possible.

Hi Fellow 3800X owners. What Wattage are you drawing from your 3800X's?

Mine boosts to 4.5+ on 5 cores, produces similar results in benchmarks as other 3800X's but mine NEVER (in HWinfo latest build) draws more than 62W of power. Even running multi threaded benchmarks like cinebench 20, gaming, anything - wont show in HWinfo more than 62W max. i'm looking at CPU package power in HWinfo. You guys showing more?

Thanks in advance

That sounds like you have the eco mode on in the bios, but with 4.5 wow who cares
I just checked ran cinebench and I have got 114w max

which motherboard do you have by the way? pbo on or off? OC ?

Deffo got Eco mode off as I looked at that first. PBO is off and Ryzen OC is on with 200Mhz added so Ryzen Master shows 4750 (obviously never gets there).

I have ASRock Phantom Gaming 4....wonder if Off in the BIOS is accidentally On for Eco Mode? I'll try switching Eco Mode On. Could be a BIOS mistake.

Very happy with my perf but just wondered why it draws no more than 62W.

Right, Turned Eco Mode ON and it draws....68W max. Run a few Benchmarks and stress tests. AIDA 64, CPU-Z, OCCT, Cinebench 20. Even in Eco mode, 5 of the cores reached 4.5 or more and drew more power than Ecomode off.

Not complaining at all, but it's a bit odd that others can draw 100W+ Even 3700X's I've seen at 140W.
