Because he's not been charged and isn't on trial.

There are pro's and cons either way. It's an open and transparent light on the judicial system with allowing the press to report X person has been arrested for Y, else you can get to the point people are arrested, taken away and no-one is allowed to know.

The reporting restrictions would come in when the person is charged and on trial, to be lifted after it's finished.

Question is should it eventually come out as he had nothing to do with it and its nothing more than a wrong place wrong time situation. What recourse does he have to the media plastering his name all over the internet as a "murderer" ruining his future. Because once something is out there online, its there for good.

He'd need to sue papers, but can he afford it...

The headline would be 'driver released without charge' by now.

why do they need to smuggle, Chinese are allowed to come and go as tourists. smuggling still cost them money. unless these are forced by their will??

This is being discussed greatly on trucking related groups, where he was at that time of night is predominantly used by truckers to park for the night / break but is a well known drop off point for illegals.

I doubt he was nothing more than a driver doing a job, I’ve collected countless trailers from port trailer parks in the past, reefers included,but, I wouldn’t open a sealed reefer trailer (as the on board temperature record will flag up the drop of temperature which could result in the load being rejected) which makes me wonder why he went to that particular industrial estate and why he opened the trailer....

All speculation still, nothing concrete so far as to the drivers level of involvement from the authorities yet, until they say so we won’t know much more.

But the longer they keep him the more I think there’s a very good reason for their doing so, if he was purely a driver picking up a trailer with no other knowledge of what was going on I doubt he’d still be in custody.

Many Chinese came over here, burned their papers because they didnt want to get sent home. Now they are stuck living on the streets (because they cant speak English, cant get a job and have no proof of ID) and want to go back home, but China wont take them because they have no papers

that makes no sense. a friend said its because not all Chinese are given a visa.

Literally if you go to London their are millions of Chinese tourists, they out number the locals

Well they don't all have money, there are still some very poor people outside the cities, and then you have the social credit system that if you're a "naughty" person you aren't allowed to travel anymore, so there is a market for enslaving them because the CCP doesn't give a ****.

But it’s also one of the biggest developing markets in the world. Companies are routinely showing a blind eye to racism or actively attempting to shut up anyone who has anything bad to say about China so they can continue to access the market.

Doesn't matter, hes screwed either way. Laws are in place regarding clandestine entrants and securing your vehicle. He has clearly screwed up on so many levels here...

He can mess up his checks but that doesnt make him responsible for the dead people. The police wont do much about him not bothering to check inside.

Apparently the first time he laid eyes on it are when he picked it up at Purfleet. He's only responsible for it and it's contents at that point.
