39 Bodies found in Lorry in Essex

Gravy train? How?

They're illegal, what possible gravy train could they get here?

That’s a bit silly tbh... some earn quite a decent living thus they’re able/willing to stump up a 5 figure sum to get back in.

In decades to come I don’t doubt we’ll be hearing appeals over someone who has since had kids and wants to stay. Perhaps some will get married, some might claim asylum etc...

They’re not all naive people who’ve been tricked.

Have you seen the photos of some of the involved (prior)? I don't think they were hurting for cash, but maybe that's just sensationalism at play.

It's easy for anyone to appear affluent on social media, hence why you get losers all crowding around one bottle of grey goose in a club or posing in front of some random supercar parked up. Even utterly destitute people in Africa will have Sunday best clothes that make it look like they aren't living in utter poverty.

Well they aren't coming for the weather

They will be in a generation or so... wait till global warming hits and some countries start getting submerged, other nations around the equator become nearly uninhabitable etc.. and the birth rates of these parts of the world aren't slowing down either.

12 more potential victims saved from a refrigerated truck in Zebrugge:

Haha are we all potential victims of car crashes anytime we drive a car now? :D
No because getting in a car doesn't guarantee you will be involved in a crash (driving skills notwithstanding).

Being locked in an air tight container that isn't due to be opened for X hours and has X-Y hours of air however...

The weather is one of the best things about this country.

It's extremely moderate in all respects so its very rare to see serious disruptions to daily life from it.

Only in 2019 could someone pay thousands of pounds to have themselves smuggled into the UK illegally and then be described as a potential victim

I think you’ll find it’s been going on for a very long time prior to 2019.....

I just seen this
How many migrants have died in transit?
The number of migrants who die in transit has been recorded by the UN since 2014.

Since then, five bodies of suspected migrants have been found in lorries or containers in the UK:

Data was not collected in the same way before the migrant crisis began in 2014, but such deaths are not new.

 In 2000, 58 Chinese migrants were found suffocated to death in a lorry at Dover.

 In 2015, the bodies of 71 people were found in an abandoned lorry on an Austrian motorway. Police suspected the vehicle was part of a Bulgarian-Hungarian human trafficking operation.

I just seen this
Yes its an ongoing problem, what really depresses me is the report from the BBC is so similar yet 19 years on, frankly nothing has changed other than them using Purfleet these days as its far less stringent on checks from what I'm reliably informed.

Bodies were found in a lorry at Dover Docks
The bodies of 58 people have been found in the back of a lorry at the English port of Dover.

The driver of the Dutch-registered lorry, which arrived from Zeebrugge, Belgium, just before midnight, has been arrested.

The 54 men and four women are thought to have been illegal immigrants and reports suggest they are of Chinese origin. Two survivors, both men, have been taken to hospital.

The lorry had travelled to Dover from Zeebrugge

Home Secretary Jack Straw said he was appalled by the loss of human life caused by what he called "the evil trade in trafficking". He will make a statement to the House of Commons this afternoon.

Come on guys, we've got to see this, controlled blind test ;)
:D
