well you dont run a Conroe, its an Allendale (2mb cache)
and i dont run a conroe, its a kentsfield (8mb cache)
Well maybe if you had given a reasonable answer in the first place I wouldnt have had to ask a 2nd time.
2ndly this is from OCUK's "definiition" of the E6400:
Intel’s Conroe design makes their older Pentium chips look very, very ordinary. As far as gaming performance goes, Intel is looking very strong and as we have predicated and Intel told many people at the Computex show throughout the week, Intel is looking like they will be the gamer CPU of choice in the remainder 2006 and all of 2007. If you crave the absolute quickest CPU for your PC their is nothing faster than Intel latest Conroe processors, be prepared as you will be amazed. The E6xxx series offer great value for money and are a favourite choice amongst overclockers with reports of overclocks well over 3.2GHz already achieved with just basic air cooling. Intel is set to take back the performance crown for 2006 and 2007 again!
To ME this reads as though any E6xxx series is in general classification a Conroe. Conroe SEEMS to be the general design of the chip from this passage of text.
I am also guessing that this is straight from Intel's pages - as most of OCUK's descriptions are straight from manufacturer's websites - as you would expect.
Now maybe Core 2 Duo SHOULD be stated everywhere Conroe appears above, but personally think thats a little padantic
//end of rant
I am still surprised that the cache makes that much difference - but hey ho
