4.8ghz on 3770k

lol mate i just read your post after a bit of a nightmare myself.I did the exact same thing and used 105 blck and it worked perfect in games and IBT maximum for 10 passes.105x45 4725mhz.

I ran vantage and it froze with black screen.Lowered gpu clocks and it ran a bit black screned rebooted again it completed twice then ended up where the gui gave errors and would not start at all.Same with pc mark and cpu-z now giving gui errors.

No matter what i did in my bios it was stuck at 45 multi i had to reset cmos manually and wipe it to get everything working at stock. Also my score was only 25k for cpu in vantage which is clearly wrong for a 4700mhz ivy.Since cmos reset my pc mark physx cpu score went from 5k to 7k and im using stock values again!

WTH?

Yea its mad it probably doesnt like it either does my gfx card.

To be honest though its as if ive damaged something or windows.Im getting artifacts now where the toolbar in windows is becoming a white block which is not good even though it only happened once!

Say my msi afterburner logo on taskbar goes a white block i click it and it returns to normal. So yea its fine then i ran something else and i had a fine white line and a line of text stuck above my clock in windows.

duno whats wrong wont be touching blck again and i hope a format removes the oddness

I cant comment on the firewire card but it clearly does not like BLK. On Z77 single card graphics I have not seen one card that does not like around 107 blk so this is strange. The artifact sat in desktop sounds like faulty Vram to me rather than anything in Windows.

I will write a guide for overclocking Ivy if users wish yes.

Hi 8pack, Just read through this topic and lots of great info there.

I am a noob at overclocking and have just gone from q6600 to i73770k.

I want to get the best out of it. Please yes to the guide and list the tools and software needed.

Im up for a little tweeking.

Just going to 102 crashed atikmp for me :(

Thats really strange at 102. Sounds like RAM that.

You could be right. It turns out my 1600MHz 1.65V DRAM overclock wasn't as stable as I thought. I can't remember if I reverted to 1333MHz before pushing the BCLK up though. I think I did, but I'm not sure. I'm hesitant to do it though because after that my SSD wasn't registering as a bootable drive! Fixed itself overnight, but it was slightly worrying! I've since made a backup of the drive though, so I may give it another go.

Perhaps spend more time playing with PLL and VTT to see if I can get it stable at 4.7GHz for 24/7. 4.6Ghz is fine, but going above that is where it gets a bit trickier. It's all prime stable, but then later down the line I start getting the odd BSOD.

My quest continues. now that Ive got 4.5 stable. im gonna push higher. I think I may have a chip that likes high voltage. It'd be good if the box of an intel cpu gave you silicon rating (out of 5 stars) and varied the price of them too lol
