A client has just asked me to build him a PC. He has £4000 to spend. I told him its excessive, but he is eager to spend that much. I don't think he even has a specific use for it. Just looking for a generally very fast and stable system.
And quiet too.
I've never built anything over £1500 for a long while. Can someone advise me
As a comparson, his old system which i think he bought 5 years ago around the £3k mark runs a AMD 939 dual core with SLI GTX 7950's.

Its going to a layman so no overclocking or watercooling. And case has to look good and need minimal, or at least easy maintenance in terms of keeping it dust free..
So any help would be appreciated.

I'm currently looking at some OCUK prebuilt systems to get an idea.

haha he'll have a £4000 PC with an MX518!!?? S'like putting a plastic steering wheel in a ferrari.

Amazed at how quickly the money's used up. Definite Dell 30", 480gtx sli, I'd personally hold back with the SSD, just pick up an 80gb, and spend more on the speakers/keyboard/mouse.

Honestly, if he wants to spend that amount, try to make sure all the things which will last him are good and decent. (including monitor, PSU, case and speaker system).

does he want a receipt for all the parts?
If not, you know what to do...
baby-devil.jpg

If he's incapable of building the computer himself.. go for flashy looking things.. from experience I've learnt that telling him there's a "really fast processor, an i5 in there makes him say "THIS IS SO QUICK" in comparision to what he'd normally use, along with showing him that he has a FULL COLOUR (pixelXpixel) SCREEN on his KEYBOARD (WOAOWHWOWW WOW!)

Yeah, so get a G19 so he can tell his friends "LOOK, EVEN GOT A SCREEN ON ME KEYBOARD"

Tell him its a "quad core, with each core running at 3GHz to a total of 12GHz." He'll be well impressed! :D

Seriously if you do get an EVGA Classified with dual xeon....please post pics....

Does he even want a new monitor? With the kind of video card hardware you’re going to be getting with that kind of dosh you might was well. Getting the awesome Dell 30008WFP is an obvious choice but how about a bit Eyefinity/Surround gaming instead?

Personally I would get Core i7 950/960 and put a mild overclock to 3.5/3.6 on it, I know it’s for laymans but a mild overclock really isn’t going hurt anyone and if you’re not raising the voltage there shouldn’t be any long term issues if you pair it with a good cooler. Windows 7 Ultimate, 12Gb of Ram, 2x GTX480 in SLI or 2X HD5870 in Crossfire, Corsair Professional Gold AX1200 PSU, Lian Li Full Tower or the Fractual Design Full Tower (out soon looks great), Asus Xonar Essence ST sound card, Sennhiesier PC 595’s Headphones.

Thanks for the help.

IF we go down the EVGA classified route, which Xeons are we talking about?
And any other special requirement needed for this board?

eg will this work
