*** 4K Player Thread ***

Life of Pi is also pretty good specifically for HDR. Not only for some of the beautiful cinematograpy with the sun setting but there is a trippy sequence about halfway in that looks incredible.

Cheers all, are all versions of the xbox one s the same? 2tb doesn't have any extras etc?

Nope nothing extra as such. Does come bundled with the stand to place the console vertically usually. For 1TB and 500GB models its a seperate purchase for a few £.

noticed PE2 is £30 pre-order on zavvi now.
No love for point break on 4K ?, the story might be questionable, but the wing flying, skiing and climbing action was good amonsgt nice PE2'ish scenery, plus less CGI than many (I think there has to be some upcoming kick-back against CGI)

[lol just saw new UK samsung phone add, trying to win back cusomers - 'giving you what you want', could not find utube link, but apparently similar in NZ
edit: this add ]

so there are two new Panasonic players on there way
While exact prices for the DMP-UB400 and DMP-UB300 have yet to be confirmed, they’re certainly going to cost more in line with budget decks like the Samsung K8500; after all, the mid-range UB700 only cost £400, and the UB400/UB300 can be expected to substantially undercut that.
so could be £200 like the Samsung ?

.. so the '12' bit update is actually enabling 10bit output - is that right ?
since currently if you use 12 bit, it only works correctly with a Panasonic tv which would have the correct algorithm to recover the original 10bit data from the 4k disk that had been 'up-scaled' to 12bit

I watched it when it aired on BBC and in HD it was absolutely stunning camera work, so i know the 4k version will probably be the most visually pleasing 4k experience you can have.

In January 2016 i bought an LG 65EF950V OLED tv. Then in march 2016 Vincent Teoh from hdtvtest spent half a day calibrating it. Since then i have enjoyed tv and films like no other time in my life. I got SkyQ about 4 months ago and have enjoyed 4k content from there along with Amazon. During this time my Blue ray player has been a Panasonic DMP BDT700, which is a very good player. Yesterday a bought a Panasonic DMP UB900 4K player, got it set up and watched the free Ghostbusters 4K film that came with it. Not my sort of film i must admit, but the visuals were superb. Anyway i ordered Pacific Rim which arrived this afternoon and have just finished watching it. What can i say............................just stunning, and yes i know this isn't a fully native UHD film. None the less, i now know i made the right choice in TV and 4K player because it can only get even better from now on.

When you had your TV calibrated. Does the person give the settings just in case you have to reset you TV?

Yes, Vincent e-mailed me the complete list of settings when he got home.
To be honest, if you are spending £3000+ on a telly it really is a no brainer to spend another few hundred quid to have it properly calibrated. The difference it makes to the whole viewing experience is that large i would now consider it part of the cost if i buy another telly.

Thanks.
Think I will email him on a price for my 75X94 using a Virgin V6 box and a Panasonic UB900.
I think it will be in the £300+ range
