Thanks for the replies, I'll have a read up on a few machines to see what looks good. May stretch the budget to £300 & call it a Christmas present!
I’ve tried reading up on it and it seems the VUDU app which I use to redeem my UV codes is not available without using a VPN and a console/tablet or a very small number of smart TV.
UV are just the distributor, they use another service to show the content.
If you have the VUDU app on your phone then you can use a chrome cast to cast to your tv.
PANASONIC DMP-UB390EB Smart 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player £129 Currys
Chances are it's a special model for Currys so they can say they won't price match as it's not the same model.
Even when the LG is now £199 vs £649 for oppo?
hmm
It's still a pretty huge premium for a 'nice to have' feature that will probably be common on far cheaper players (that aren't complete junk like the LG) in several months, when far more DV content should also be available.
I've purchased the Panasonic UB390 for £130. It's very good and I'll flog it next year for any decent DV player that is less than £300.
i just want a sony deck with comparable audio and video performance with dolby vision for £400 or less.
What is going to drive the 4k disc price down ? I cannot believe manufacturing cost is much more than a blu-ray, and if the discs were cheaper they might sell more players - a virtuous circle.
