*** 4K Player Thread ***

Where does it say they are upscaled ? That link you gave me to that web page is really bad.

The Groundhog 4k Netflix film is meant to be a transfer from the 35mm original which has been discussed before here and on other forums in that the 35mm original has enough detail to be transferred to a 4k digital film.

Its quite easy to follow. And im using a mobile . Just bump the choices to tge max and scroll through. Clearly says upscaled

When you get it can you do me a favour. On the 4k version when you get to the scene with the church when it pans down from the top of the steeple there is meant to be bad flicker/judder which has been reported in reviews. Can you post whether you see it and what TV you are using ? Thanks.

how many mins in ?

I missed Logan at the cinema so looking forward to my UHD disc. However not bothered about the black and white version I find it silly. I have a 4k TV for glorious colour detail why on earth do I want to go back over 50 years to see a black and white film on my 4k TV!

Never watched schindler's list then lol . And if you refuse to watch black and white films you're missing out on cinema history.

Its a 4k black and white.... damn unique imo for modern films. Its worth looking at just for that reason.

And the film is brilliant.. my first watch. I will get around to the b&w version.

Whike I'm on that subject..... watch stephen kings "the mist" in b&w .

not much acivity on this thread - maybe amazon prime day will rejuvinate it, and offer some deals.
(if you know someone with Prime anyway, I dislike the Amazon themprimates and us marketting)

A question to UB900 owners - will this access 4K hdr services on Amazon/Netflix/Youtube ?
I am thinking this (well ub300 £189 RS) seems an excellent player and streamer, the manuals do not list vp9 as a supported usb 4k codec, just hevc, but otherwise, could be a sweet point.
Ub300 does not have all the capabilities of ub900, but tear down pictures show similar layout/circuit-boards/build-quality

The ub900 does 4k and hdr netflix. 4k youtube also , so id assume amazon 4k . But id avoid the 300 model. go 400 minimal.

Well unless they factored the import tax into the price then you will end up paying. They will hold it at the depot as well to make you turn up to get it.

Starship troopers is £12.80 on rainforest usa in 4k if anyones interested.

edit.....and its gone up..... you snooze you lose....was a 4 hour window

Picking up an Oppo UDP203 tomorrow, but before I commit and hand over the cash, is there anything else I should be looking at? It's going to be paired with an LG OLED55B7 if that helps as to determining alternatives

Obvious choice is panasonic ub900 if you can get it. Unless your are after sacd it's still practically untouchable.

I'm actually in a dilemma atm.. My Samsung 4k TV only has 1 dedicated 4k hdmi slot. My new Xbox one X is pretty impressive as a player.

The panny ub700 is the same as the Ub900 minus some features. If you fancy that.
