4k2k Display with NVIDIA® G-SYNC - Acer XB280HK

just simple no point pre order at all prices always going down like with Samsung 4k example, better I will spend this money on something else when they have stock simple buy it, lesson learned

An ETA stands for estimated time of arrival. The date given to us by Acer themselves.

We chased them for weeks for an update, we finally got it and latest from them was they apologise but due to NVIDIA not supplying the G-Sync module in time caused the delay. They now have modules and are building the monitors which shall be air-freighted end of September with an ETA of first week of October.

It has also being two months not three and if you wanted a refund it is something you can request at any time via webnote or by simply calling us, you don't actually need to make a claim.

Our service is above and beyond, but just like other companies we are in the hands of the manufacturer.

order cancelled, I pre order on 8 July for me 3 month :) for that reason no pre orders for me thanks.

These things happen and I will wait. I loved 4K and G-Sync was the icing on the cake for me, so another month won't kill me. People are frustrated and showing emotion but 4 weeks will soon go guys. I am the worlds worst for waiting as well :D

Yeah. :)

For me is doing good.

Because I had already prepared my budget to buy two Titan Blacks in case the 780 doesn't cut it on TESO even without AA. Even if preliminary testing with downsampling shows that it will, except when at Cyrodiil on 500 people battles where is needs more than 3GB VRAM or else face 10fps.

I believe the new Nvidia cards are inbound quite soon and will most likely have 4gb of VRAM at least, i'd say wait and see what they are like first.
Which is what i'm doing, waiting on these apparent new Nvidia and AMD cards, that's if they do come out when they are rumoured to come out. Before purchasing either 1440p or 4k monitor.

Seconding what Ethan says, I have 'umm'd and 'ahh'd over this monitor for a long time but really struggling to justify going to 4k. It seems to be a slightly pointless endeavour without spending a lot for the gain in performance. I'm not deliberately trying to irritate those that have already committed to this as well so apologies if that's how this sounds.

I'm really excited for Gsync, I think it sounds really impressive, I am also aware of Vsync but from the little I've read in to both technologies, Gsync sounds preferential and if not truly dynamic, the 'better' solution - hence my interest in this monitor.

So before I go and splurge on GPUs etc, in my limited knowledge of resolutions, can this monitor play games at a lower resolution than 4k? I appreciate this is the intended and presumably, maximum resolution but can I invest in this monitor with a mind to play at 1080P and save a bit of cash for a second GPU further down the line. I suppose all this will make sense in the next month or so with the release of the GTX 9xx series however I'm tempted to scrap it completely and buy the AMD R9 295X2 which is a hell of a lot cheaper than say 2 780tis, and probably 2 980s.

@RusstheDroog I personally think 4K will be worth it and hopefully my machine will run OK at that res but I was on the fence with this monitor to begin with.

Once we get some feedback I might pick one up but with the news of new panel production we might some very nice screens early next year.

yeah agreed hence why I havent rushed in to it. I'm in no hurry to complete my build and I have no allegiance to AMD or NVidia. I reckon the Gsync would be cracking, however its hard, and much more expensive to justify NVidia for 4K without spending a lot more than AMD.

Whats the general consensus around these parts for NVidia 4K? being that I assume most people in here have such a spec already? I started another thread a while back for such a subject but it wasn't that well responded.

As in to game? Well I think the general rule is two high end gpus are needed to run at acceptable frame rates for 4k.

I personally wonder if it will be a better idea to use 4k for media and then just set the resolution to 1080p for whenever you're gaming... And then upgrade your gpu in 3 years when they can handle 4k relatively well?

Spot On unfortunately. I really liked the idea of the R9 295X2 but I'd rather pay the NVidia premium and utilising GSync.

Either way, and looking at the GTX 9XX rumours, there isn't anything NVidia are creating at the moment that is going to provide a cutting edge 4k experience. I'm just not interested in Titans and the 980 seems a little meek. I'm certainly not going to splurge for 2 in SLI just to get a half baked 4k experience. I suppose I'll try to blag a 780 or 780ti on the cheap in the next few weeks and upgrade further down the line.

I'm really glad I bought that superflower 1kW supply in preparation for SLI cards.

Balls

Sorry guys, I could wait no longer, so jumped on the Swift. I have not fully ruled out this monitor though and could still get one at some stage :)
