4x PAX wardrobes Ikea - all damaged on delivery

hmmmm refuse delivery ?

As soon as they came off the van and were brought into the house I saw the state of the boxes. I wanted to reject but the delivery drivers said that's not possible and I have to contact IKEA. And I wasn't sure at that point whether all 4 would be damaged internally. Once I started opening boxes, yep all damaged.

They told me I had to call up, that I couldn't refuse delivery on the door. That may be false but it's what they told me.

And with four wardrobes delivered, I was hoping to have enough parts to get the two I wanted to build immediately done.

All boxes opened.

Out of 8 packs I have 3 sets that are good.

One set that I might be able to live with. The damage is at the back (Melamine broken off a small section) but on the inside face so will be visible.

Not sure whether to accept it or not.

do not accpet it no way you paid for what you ordered end of. /

Heres the kind of damage Im getting. Sometimes the exterior of the box is damaged so you can immediately see the inside is damaged, but other times the box seems ok and when you open it up you find damaged parts. It is all on visible areas especially the front face of the panels.

Spoke to Ikea. Exchange set up for one unit next Friday.

They are coming for the original four units tomorrow as scheduled on Friday when the original four were damaged.

£10 refund on the delivery charge.

They will be getting a letter too after all this is done.

I can't fit in my car.

Yes will be getting some refunds / compensation for sure. I have photos I will be opening a complaint with.

I've managed to salvage parts out of multiple damaged boxes for one more build so far. And I have two panels with some slight damage that I might be able to live with. One box left to look through.

Hiring a van is a good idea it's just double the cost of delivery and why should that be the only way to get good quality products delivered? Delivery isn't free with IKEA btw- it cost £50!
Ah gotcha, are you sure it's double? I'm guessing you don't have Zipcar/Zipvan near you? I'm in London so hiring a mini one for an hour or two is about £20 I think. It does suck and is more hassle, but if you're having issues with delivery like yourself, it's the only way to sort it out.

It's about 80 quid a day to hire a van here, don't know if there are any 2-3 hour hire options.

Would have been cheaper to hire one if their vans.

I assume they're all the same and ours offers 3hrs for £30.
