4x PAX wardrobes Ikea - all damaged on delivery

Would have been cheaper to hire one if their vans.

I assume they're all the same and ours offers 3hrs for £30.

I didn't know they did it, otherwise would have.

Problem is though, if you get home and find damage to a piece, do you then need the van again to return it or do they use their delivery/collection service?

I'd be pushing for a complete refund of the delivery charge considering that there's been issues twice now.

Once you can accept although it was awful but twice is pants.

The way it works at ours is that you go in your own car, leave that there whilst you use the van then return the van and go home in your car.

It's up to you to check the product for damage before you load the van then beyond that it's on you. Our local store is pretty good though, they'll check the boxes over first before you load up. I've never had an issue.

Hopefully you can pre-order the van for an off-peak time - driving something like an unfamiliar transit through busy traffic sounds scary - I remember reversing that on last house move.

Spoke to Ikea. Exchange set up for one unit next Friday.

They are coming for the original four units tomorrow as scheduled on Friday when the original four were damaged.

£10 refund on the delivery charge.

They will be getting a letter too after all this is done.

10 refund from 50? eh?

The units theyve given you are in worse condition that the ones Ive bough in bargain corner.

Theres no chance at all I'dbehappy other than a full refund of the delivery charges and delivery of a set of non damaged units

Standard delivery is £40, express delivery which I'd paid for is £50. All they would do is refund me the difference.

They’re really tight with refunding delivery charges - I had an experience similar to the OP and it ground on for months.

They’ve cut customer service to the bone, and all manufacturing is now in China.
A shame as I used to love Ikea

I'd be going down the s75 route if they refuse to refund delivery after it's taken them what 4 attempted deliveries to get you what you paid for?

Hi all. My 4 wardrobes are built and now I need to go and buy the doors.

After the mess with delivery damage I am wondering can I get 2400 X 550mm X 50mm boxes (4 packs) in my car? I have a BMW 3 series estate. Will measure it of course but I think the boxes will have to go over the front seat somehow and be propped up on the dash.

Measure it

Should be fine if you put the passenger chair in mega recline and slide it over?

It’s why IKEA is cheap, build quality, delivery service, customer service, quality of care, you take the gamble. I know you said the driver was unwilling to take them back but he wouldn’t be leaving my house without removing them

Ikea used to be pretty good in my experience, shame to see it's gone downhill, like everything else it seems. :(

TBH we have ourselves to partly blame - we don't like price increases so, in order to keep customers buying whilst costs increase, the quality suffers. That and companies always looking at ways to increase profitability. Both stem from the same reason - Human Greed.

If its the 2.4 height ones you should be good, I normally stant them on thei side and they slide inbetween the front seats to stop them flopping about

My last Ikea delivery was £50 and came in a van that wouldn't look out of place at the breakers yard, or down a country lane fly tipping.
The two delivering were really good and placed all the boxes where I wanted them.

I would guess that the original deliveries were not sent out like that by Ikea and the couriers had probably caused the damage.

I would also, if me, be pushing for nothing less than a full refund on the delivery and then compensation for time lost and stress and the like.

Are you getting glass or wood doors? Normal or sliding? I have glass doors and they are very heavy, just bear that in mind if collecting/unloading them on your own (they are also heavy and awkward to hang on your own)

IKEA is not particularly cheap by self assembly standards.

6 metres of Pax cost us something like €5500 last year, not exactly bargain basement stuff.
It's a heck of a lot nicer to assemble than most self assembly stuff though.

Getting sliding doors, but the plain fronted flat ones not the modular or glass panelled ones.
