5 programs you highly recommend!

JetAudio

In my oppinion it's THE all-in-one media program!

Other than playing video/audio files (incl .FLV and .MKV) it also allows you to burn to CDs, rip from CDs, change filetype/bitrate of existing audio/video media, crop sections out of your audio files (for use as ringtones, or cropping an annoying intro off a good song)

Also it will allow you to point the audio from the video playback to a different source than the audio playback (again, both can be seperate from the default PC playback option) - I've got video file playback pointing out to my TV and audio playback to my PC speakers...

I love it, found it about 7 years ago and haven't looked back!!

Definately worth a try, even if you decide not to stick with it :)

not exactly a program, but after ive done drivers and windows updates, first thing i do is goto ninite.com - its a website with a fairly comprehensive and updated list of commony downloaded programs, simply tick the ones you want and click 'get installer' - it downloads a small installer, which itself downloads and installs all the programs automatically.

The only downside i find is that it only downloads/installs them one at a time

When I format I install:

Firefox
WinRar
Skype
VLC Player
PowerISO
Avira

With the new Firefox 4, I find it essential to download the plugin that allows me to set CTRL+E to the top right search box as it used to be. Why firefox changed that I will never know.

Utorrent
Photoshop
Steam
Asus Thermal Radar

Stuck on my last one, so i'll go with Logitech LCD Monitor. (normally along with Fraps so when i'm testing games settings out i'll have the fps monitor running on it.)

My top programs:

Opera,
Notepad++
CCleaner
FreeFileSync
iTunes
Lightroom
Thunderbird
Evernote
IMGBurn
Lastpass
XMarks
IETester
Security Essentials
Pea Zip

Just formatted my PC after over 8 months! I had lots of **** installed and my windows drive was almost full (being only ~73GB).

Anyway, feels almost like a new PC now! I have noticed most the software I had installed was all out of date so I am updating everything.

I installed:

Win 7 Ultimate 64
Windows Updates
Avast
Firefox
K-Lite Kodecs (inc Media Player Classic)
MSN
Skype
7-Zip
Winrar
Office 2010

I think that's most of it so far.

(1) What 5 programs do you highly recommend that I do not have listed above?

(2) Is Nero Burning Rom still fairly decent or is there something else I should look to get/buy?

(3) What Firefox addons do you recommend? (I quite like the look of the new firefox)

Don't really see why you need winrar if you have 7zip.

My must installs:
VLC Player
CCLeaner
iTunes
Winrar
EAC (Exact Audio Copy)
Firefox + Adblock Plus
Corel Paintshop Pro
Google Picasso
Imgburn
MakeMKV
Malwarebytes
Spybot S&D (I just use the immunization feature)
Spywareblaster

Firefox Portable
VLC Portable
Eusing Registry Cleaner
CCleaner Portable
wxDownloadFast

I also agree that Defraggler is great. Especially as it tells you how many fragments each file has and lets you pick the files to defrag. Terrific if you want a v.fast solution to one big file that is slowing something up, such as a dynamic virtual drive in VirtualBox.

Lupo PenSuite - Why bother installing anything this has a tool for every occasion. Whenever I have to do a one-off task I don't have a tool for I always turn to this little gem.
