5090 Price

So was the 3080 RRP $699?
The 4080 $1099?

On that basis and as it's Nvidia I can see the 5080 being $1499. As for the 5090, well, I wouldn't be surprised if it's at $2500.

Who knows, it's all just guessing numbers, he could change his mind as he walks on stage.

I also see one report of them coming earlier than expected and others saying later.

I’ve just had a look at the games I’d be hoping to play over the next year… almost none of them are the new / hyper demanding games.

I’d be getting Cyberpunk, Wukong and Jones just for the sake of testing the card.

… but ya know, I figure it’s better to throwaway money than have to cope with second best… :o :p

That's what they did for 4000 series. Zero price/performance improvements for anything except 4090.
The 4080 was such a scam relative to the 3080. It'll probably be less noticeable this time but only because they already massively inflated the price for the 4000 series.

Honestly won't be surprised if the 5080 is launch 4080 money. Will gladly wait for less criminal pricing.

Same. Will either wait or go AMD, or look into the used market for a good 4090.

If the 5090 is a reasonable distance below 2k I'll probably bite but no way I'd pay near or over 2k purely out of principle, that's just stupid.

If the 5080 only has 16gb vram and that's not offset by some magic new AI solution then I'll be in the market for a 4090 instead of a 5080. At the moment I'm struggling to see the point in a 5080 for top tier gaming.

I will say that the XTX is a very underrated card (decent aftermarket one that boosts well at least), and I've had 4090's galore.

The biggest problem is they can't seem to compete in software. Say they had everything Nvidia did, but still had the RT performance it has, it would do a lot better.

They also need to find a solution where you can update old games by dropping in latest FSR like in like DLSS. It does not need to work with old cards, just new ones which I guess will be their new architecture in 2 years time?

I would be happy to jump ship and come back if they catch up in every way except for RT personally. But as it is, next gen they have nothing to offer me.

5080 should be no more than $999 and they can go $1999 or more for the 5090 for all I care.

5070 Ti $799
5070 $599

Truth is what I would want to see is this:

5090 $1999 or more
5080 $899
5070 Ti $699
5070 $499

Profitable and does not take the total biscuit.

This is based on latest leaks in Cuda cores etc.

I feel my the above pricing I would like is fair. Because let's be honest.

The 5090 is a 5090. But the rest of the stack based on the wide margin of performance should be named one or two names below.

How does one go from a 5080 to a 5090 that has around double the spec?

That said all the leaks might be a load of rubbish fed by nvidia. And would not be the first time.

This would make 5090 a halo product that almost nobody buys. I think Nvidia would pretty much want a top-tier card that people will buy. So Either 5090 will be cheaper (~$1500-1600) or more likely 5080 will be more expensive (like 4080 launch price).

The target market for the 90 is very different to the 80, 70, etc. People will pay 2k.

There's a group of people who would probably bite at 1.5k, but it's not really a loss as they're a minority.
