Stay away from knackered old BMWs with missing towing eye covers.
I'd happily buy another cheap 3 series. I needed a car in a hurry when I moved back to the UK and picked up a 318i saloon with 90k on the clock for £2.2k...solid car.

I'd take a well-looked after NA petrol 3 series over some French ***** every single time.

...why so?
Potentially used for a lot more short runs, not necessarily serviced every year (because owners may think it hasn't done many miles), tyres and other consumables may be more perished due to age rather than use and not replaced etc.

Low mileage cars can have as many problems as excessively high mileage cars.

Being petrol the town/city usage is no real issue, especially as it's not done 100k miles of them

Service history can be checked easily, no need to write-off lol. Consumables can also be checked too.

Low mileage cars have significantly different problems to high mileage cars. Mainly perishable rubber/plastics which are all way cheaper to replace than issues that arise from the higher-miler. Yes, obviously there can be issues with seizures etc. but these are rare and easily identifiable from a nice cold test drive.

You simply can't know the history of a car based in mileage alone. It's like looking at trends in crypto.

Sure if a car has done 20k a year its lots of long trips, or it may have been a pizza delivery nipping between doors.

i know the feeling , I've been looking on/off for 2 years lol

still, my car is reliable, if i needed another car sharpish if mine broke and cost 1000+ to fix, id buy another

Ford Focus mk 2.5 1.8 petrol (no cambelt to change, has a chain instead)
or if your lucky the 2.0 version

Thoughts on this?

Looks good but I'm not keen on places who hide the reg, means you can't do checks without visiting the forecourt first.

If I needed a car tomorrow then this "RARE" Focus would be worth a look :D
