Not much information on this model out there at the moment.

I know a few people ( including myself) ordered one today. Mine isn't coming until Monday because of where I live but I'd love to hear peoples thoughts on them when they arrive and I'd really like to know if they come with a backplate.

Thanks
Scott

I tried the Powercolor 5700XT dualfan version and wasn't that impressed (sold it on within a week) BUT this does look to have slightly bigger fans so hopefully it'll help with the sound profile even if they tend to hit 75/80c under full load.

I might talk a bit about it after i get mine tomorrow, probs wont do benchies or anything like that tho. But ill say if theres whine or fan noise if i hear it etc. Will be my first powercolour card, usually had msi or sapphire the past few cards.

The last picture on their website suggests no backplate. The plate in the reference 6700XT is purely decoration though, it doesn't have any meaningful way to sink heat

well by the pictures on powercolor website they come with a backplate
you can see on the 3rd and last pictures

Cooler looks very slim though! It might be borderline.

The fans and heatsink are the same size as the reference design, so it should be no worse than reference and the reference reviews seem to imply it's more than adequate. AMD seem to have learned a lot with the 6000 series coolers.

:o at it again old bean! Trying to remember the last PowerColor I had. Definitely been a while, normally Sapphire or reference in recent history.

Ed- looking at it, reminds me of an XFX style.

Again, I've had the *experience* so at least I can give feedback ;)

And ffs XFX? They've been bad for a good long time!

AMD yes, but Powercolor? Maybe. Let's hope so.

The Powercolor 5700XT Red Dragon (apologies I should be looking at the cheaper dual fan Powercolor 5700 XT) was reviewed well as a cheaper option with more than adequate cooling. It easily beat mor epremium MSI, Asus and Gigabyte 5700XT designs for cooling on the GPU, VRM and VRAM.

The 5700XT Red Dragon (apologies I meant Powercolor dual fan 5700XT) cards consume similar power, so the 6700XT Fighter should be no worse than Powercolor Dual fan 5700XT as Powercolor do tend to have better designs.

Though the main point is that Powercolor have a good track record with their GPU designs in the past. Better than most of the more "established" brands. In fact I tend to avoid MSI, Gigabyte and especially Asus AMD GPUs as they all tend to re-purpose their Nvidia coolers with scant regard for the AMD layout. That review above shows how utterly poor the Asus AMD GPUs tend to be.

I would expect it to be fine and well within tolerances, just don't expect any massive overclocking. Give it an undervolt and it will performam very well.

The Powercolor 5700XT Red Dragon

The one I had wasn't a Dragon, it was named 'Dual Fan' or some sort. Not awful but not great. Powercolor are decent imo but only on their top tier'd cards (where they put the effort in).

Sapphire however tend to put the effort in on their lower end cards (but generally only have 2 tiers afaik).

Apologies, I have edited my post to reflect this, the dual fan 5700XT Powerolor does seem to match the 6700XT for cooling setup. Having said that is does fair quite well in testing on that 5700XT and by your own testament is OK. It also handilly beats some of the more expensive "premium" branded 5700XTs from Asus, MSI and Gigabyte. So if you look at reference 6700XT cooling results expect soemthing similar.
