Has a nice metal back plate in a nice black paint i think ud call it matte, its got nice black on the io metal bit on side and the hsf casing is nice too. Sry for bad pics, its from a old phone.

Every site i saw said its 2x 8 pin pcie but its 1 8 pin and 1 6 pin.

Metal is thick imo so dont think it would sag or anything with that backplate, sorry its back in the box as letting it warm up from being cold during transit so cant check thermal pads, iirc it had a bit of a tiny gap between backplate and pcb so maybe has thermal pads?

Edit - Just for you harlequin i took it back out and no sorry theres just gaps and screws between backplate and pcb, no thermal pads.

I wouldnt bother with RT on it. RIS is awesome though and their new enhancements will be a step up from even when I was gaming on the Vega with drivers.

Works fine with RT in SOTR and Control @ 1440p.

Those are the only 2 games I play at the moment with RT though lol.

I stopped watching GN teardown videos when he pressed down on a 6800XT fans which of course began to grind, and he said without a hint of irony "could be an RMA issue". Well no crap Sherlock, they aren't designed to work with you pressing down on them. Adding thermal pads to a backplate will have no meaningful difference to temps on this GPU, 1-2c, or 3c at best for some compontents and that will never be the difference between poor and good temperatures.

39mm deep vs my 37mm deep 1070ti, I wonder if my little buddy 90mm fan, that I've slot in between the psu shroud and 1070ti, to exhaust air, will still fit in so neatly. Hope so!

I assume this is the new name for the Red Dragon cards? As my 5700XT RD looks preety much identical.

No there are several variants. Red Dragon still exists, along with Hellhound and Fighter.
I have no idea what the differences are between them mind you! Different coolers and clocks I think.
