6700 XT Owners Thread

I think there are too many assumption that it will be a bad cooler and will need help to cope. Won't be long until we start seeing actual test results from owners.

Initially I delcared the 6700XT an overpriced piece of junk. I have warmed (pun intended) a bit to the fact it is giving 2080Ti levels of performance in rasterisation for £420 - £450. So it is a decent GPU that is slightly overpriced. What is does show is that AMD are prepared to milk consumers knowing the high demand for any reasonable GPU. So hopefully this will put to bed the myth that AMD are the consumers friend. I mean they are still ot at Nvidia levels of dry humping consumers, but getting there. :)

Would check to see how hot they get first. There might not be a sensor in the cheaper SKU's for software readings. A user may have a thermal gun though and report back? :)

Just going on the Gamers Nexue tear down - with the backplate that bounces as nothing was underneath (and steves comments about it)

Have you missed the entire TSMC have increased prices of 7nm part? 5nm gpu`s will be even more expensive , as every supply chain cost increase is passed along to the end user.

Oh I didnt know GN tore this unit down. May have a peek sometime today, it shouldn't get hot, are people buying it to mine and not game then? ;)

Correct, I also read over past couple of days many sources are predicting the desert of items due to component shortages lasting until early 2023. If this is any way accurate, you could see more scalping and delays on products!

Yes, but (as i originally said) -

"Could thermal pads be added to the back plate (if none already)?"

The assumption being - there are none , as Steve @GN discovered with the one he took apart (and reference design). Ofc Powerecolor could have added some over the ram and VRM`s, so it`ll be a moot point AND a good thing.

OK well we shall wait for someone to take off the backplate of one then before getting all 'fighter' over it?! ;) :p

On ocuk ad for the figher in the 2nd pic i believe, if u look at the bottom edge i think it does have a backplate as i can see a extra line other than pcb. Mine should be here in a hour they say.

Also, given that its just come out, lets hope theres some performance hidden and mature drivers later will unlock some of it, maybe in ray tracing too but u never know. Plus theres that promise of dlss for amd due to come for it later this year which can help if its easy for devs to plugin to use. And u never know what other features that might come that are a toggle on or off for some nice thing or minor boost.

What cpus is everyone pairing with this card, mines a poor old 3570k at 4.2, single core perf isnt too bad vs newer stuff but multicore stuff is a ways behind.

Mine arrives today! :)

i7 2700K @ 4.6GHz. I'm sure it will bottleneck it, but hopefully not hugely. I hope to play in 4K anyway which should help reduce the bottleneck.

From what I've seen single core performance of our CPU's is dominated by new stuff. A Ryzen 5600 is about twice as good at single thread.

I wouldnt bother with RT on it. RIS is awesome though and their new enhancements will be a step up from even when I was gaming on the Vega with drivers.

Is rsi better on these cards than vega56 ones? also is ris and cas different? I tried ris on x4 but couldnt tell if was working tbh.
