6700 XT Owners Thread

Hi, just a quick question. Will my Ryzen 5 3600X bottleneck the rx 6700 xt gpu? Mainly gaming and video editing but not a lot. Thanks

I wouldnt have thought it no, but when I say that I would mean your running it at 1440p rather than 1080p. The more stress you place on the GPU the better the 3600 will cope assuming your not after 144hz/fps.

It depends what you are doing, in could do yes, but probably not in a significant way, I don't know anything about video editing but with gaming, if you are playing a game like Shadow of the Tomb Raider or Cyberpunk 2077, then it's absolutely possible. However I'm not sure that people fully appreciate what is meant by bottleneck oftentimes, it's a simple concept but is really quite involved with the factors that can play into this and how it could manifest and under what conditions etc. For example, on of the areas you might see some level of bottlenecking with a 6 core CPU is with a game that can actually utilise all the cores and when the system is doing something else aswell, it may not even be as straightforward as you could get a higher frame rate with an 8 core or more, infact it's very possibly not the case it might be that you could get better frame times, i.e. a smoother and more consistent experience. In short, I think you'll be fine, if you have any issues with the performance you are getting then in might be time to look into why but a 3600X is an appropriate CPU to pair with a 6700XT in my opinion it's not an imbalanced configuration.

None on mine

I just threw the card into my old asus p6z68-v pro (to test something) (board for an intel 2700k (9 years old) and it booted up fine ran furmark fine etc ...) it was even with a Very old 550w antecHE psu and ... it booted up fine and ran furmark and state of decay 2 (didnt play long thou).

Recently got a MSI 6700XT Mech and although it's far quieter than my old RX 580, does anyone know of any impending waterblocks?
Always wanted to wait until I had a good enough card to warrant it, so now thinking about a loop.

Thanks a lot folks. On the radeon software it was saying that my old gpu rx 5500 xt was underperforming with R5 3600x. I never noticed any stutter in any of the games. I was looking to replace it with 3900X, but comparing the specs it was just a little bit better. I think I will leave it for now.

The 3600/X is a fine piece of kit that should work rather well upto and around 6700xt/rtx 3070 levels of performance. Will there be bottlenecks? Yes but not anything to severe. I got a 3600 myself and it feeds my 6700xt at 1440p rather well.

Yes. I blamed the b450 board initially but it won't boot in anything now. Can't seem to get a display out of any board that's had that card in it now. Hope it's not killed my boards :(

It looks like the fighter just upset something about the display port on my monitor. I powered it off for a while now I'm getting a signal from my other gpus/system. I've requested an RMA :(

What about the cable you are using, I read a few threads where a poor cable makes troubleshooting a pain. Always worth a shout.

I did try 2 different DP cables, neither worked initially so I tried an HDMI which worked fine on my 2080ti and 780. I couldn't get signal from DP with either of the cards until I switched the monitor off and on again then both worked fine. The 6700xt still wouldn't display anything though.
I tried messing with the CSM settings when the card was working and it still wouldn't boot reliably.

From those that have been watching closely, does there appear to be more stock of the 6700xt like AMD suggested? I was hoping for a 6800/6800XT to replace my Vega 64LC but I think I've all but given up on that idea.
