6700 XT Owners Thread

5800X and Power Colour Fighter 6700XT (2424Mhz up to 2581Mhz on GPU core). I have the Memory at 2150Mhz also but just 10% on the power slider.

That 6700xt fighter is turning out to be a good little card for the money when compared to other cards with those very over the top coolers which really do not make much difference on 6700xt Gpu die`s when it comes to FPS and when you look at pricing you are paying £200 or more just for the coolers.

I'll take the extra 8%ish performance with my useless 'big' cooler thanks :) (Gigabyte Gaming OC)

JediFragger you are just like me i like those extra % points but for most gamers it is not worth it paying the extra money and 6700XT fighter fits the bill perfectly.

None of which translates to acutal gameplay increase of any tangible benefit. The numbers for 1080p and 4K are simliarly meaningless. The best you can claim is the card runs cooler and quieter, though it's not like the 6700XT Fighter is excessively loud and hot in the first place.

True, it's pretty silent running which is important for me.

Is it just me or are your guys 6700xt have decent coil whine also? I know I asked this before.
I notice it when doing all things gpu related but especially fur mark or playing state of decay 2.

Thing is my last 2 cards the strix 970 and powercolor red devil 5700xt were/are dead silent.

This one has a buzzing and it seems some say they have it also, I'm wondering if all have this issue. I'm thinking the high clock rate of the core and high fps influence this.

Nope, both my 6800XT and 6700XT are fine and not noticed anything (I'd notice it as I run a v v quiet sys).

I am getting a little fan vibration from something though which has been driving me a bit crazy, seemed to have solved it finally!

Oh absolutely and that is why choice is important because what is acceptable to me could be the opposite for others. Thankfully AMD moved away from those terrible reference coolers, because even at stock the new reference 6000 GPUs run cool and quiet enough for most.

My 6700 XT fighter has coil whine but so does my 3080 FE, both run fine when locked at 144Hz or lower. Does the buzzing occur if you set an FPS cap at say 60 FPS?

Mine has coil whine, at the start of games but I think every card I've had recently.

I think it limits the coil whine slightly when I limit the fps - btw do you know what settings are optimal in adrenaline - I know one of the settings mentioned you might have input lag if you do limit it.

My 6700XT fighter has been confirmed dead by OCUK. Surprisingly they have a replacement on the way back to me :D

Hopefully the new one lasts more than a few hours.

I'm delighted with OCUK looking after gamers/customer's with these cards

Mine had that buzzing. Did my head in but I suspect also as others have said, from what I recall it was worst when running unlimited, when I played games with a frame cap on it was less noticeable. Seems a bit hit and miss from what I've read.

ya its doing my head in - not sure I can deal with it. My system is fairly quiet also.

If you are inside DSR period then you can reject it, but OCUK may do a restocking fee. Or you could try an RMA but the fact coil whine is reduced with an FPS cap is normal on most GPU and would not be seen as a fault.

In 20+ years I have never had a GPU regardless of perceived quality/price that did not have some coil whine with uncapped FPS. Some are worse than others to be fair, but they all had it and only the really bad ones can be heard over normal fan noise.

So I actually do have coil whine on my 6700XT, I had said I hadn't noticed any before but I also did caveat that with that I have a sound deadened case, well I did some testing with the side panel off the other day and the system raised up more, yes it does have coil whine, but with the side panel on and the system not on the desk (it's on a small table next to my desk normally) it's not noticeable, so the sound deadened case does result in higher temperatures with it's closed off design (Fractal Define 7 Compact) but it works really well at stopping the high pitched sound of coil whine. I actually have a mouse with coil whine, a Coolermaster MM710, and I can here that as I operate it due to it's open superlight-weight design (hence I only use it with a headset for gaming, use a wireless mouse the rest of the time)
