6700 XT Owners Thread

pointless upgrade tbh

wait untill the 3600 struggles then upgrade or you feel its not doing everything you need from it
As someone that moved from a 3950X to a 5950X i can tell that it is far from a pointless upgrade. 5000 series is a lot faster in gaming scenarios.

3600-5600 have pretty close results give or take the odd 5-10 fps at most resolutions

But then if someone has money to burn just swap if not wait for the next gen

Look at the minimums or average rather than the max frame rate , zen 3 has a significant uplift

Or instead of the 5xxx try the 11400f, its suppose to be close to 5600 speeds is it not? Cheaper too, well if u need the whole setup changed i.e mb/ram and cpu etc.

The 5600 have come down a lot in price tho, months ago was 300 ish, now its about 230 ish.

Cheaper B450 boards are fine with 3600's. If I slap on a better iteration with more cores the VRMs need good cooling. Not so bad if you have a board that does well at this but sometimes slapping in a monster will need a check.

How are you guys getting on with your 6700xt cards? I have the powercolour one and the rear most fan has a horrible click at a certain rpm. So pretty much constant clicking during use. It seems to be the rpm it likes to be at a lot so is very audible. It really needs an RMA/replacement but what is the state of things currently on that? If I send it back will I have to wait weeks for a replacement? Will OCUK have some kept spare for this kind of thing? Can I get on a waiting list for one and when ready we do the RMA replacement? Or should I look at just replacing the fan myself?

ask if they have any rma replacement stock in and say if i send mine in will i get a card shipped back asap i.e within a week. If they need to send it to the manufacturer then thats their deal it shouldnt affect you as they can get reimbersed if found faulty.

Did you buy from overclockers ?

One of my fans has started hissing, like it's very lightly rubbing or some dust is stuck. I've tried blowing the area to dislodge anything but I assume it's the bearings on this OcUK PowerColor 6700 XT Fighter.

It's quiet but not silent, and as this is my work machine during the day it's getting on my nerves. Anything else I can try? Are the fans replaceable with a better third party cooler or is this card too new?

@jaybee this kind of noise? Same fan for me - one nearest the monitor connections.

I'm still on a 1070 but I'm getting the itch and this is the card that's regularly Instock, thought?
I had Zotac 1070 extreme spectra and upgraded to a powercolor fighter when ocuk done a deal at about £450
BUT at best part of £700 i would say it is not worth it
Personally i have found little to justify even £450 for the games i play.I had the itch just like you :D

I would imagine once games can use the FSR implementation, the AMD driver software can be useful depending on what res your gaming at. It will certainly be a step up from the 1070 but as @ANDARIAL said its definitely not worth £700. Of course you could sell the 1070 and get most of the price off the OcUK fighter deal but you have to jump on one when they are under £600 or bag the 3080FE for that kind of money.

Well i wouldnt pay 700 etc for a new card, i only got the 6700xt cos i was a bit miffed with the vega 56 in gta v at 1440p and other issues. I was lucky tho as a friend was into mining for a bit and was willing to take my vega so i didnt have to bother with ebay and sold it for 300 which was well under what i coulda got on ebay but i wanted to avoid scammers so sold it to him, so i just paid 150 basically for the move up. Mate sold the vega few months later for 500 so he got a profit on it anyhow so win win for both of us.

I sold my vega to a mate on my road who had bought a pre-built (hes console gamer till then) and the pre-built was delayed until they could supply a card. He rang them and they shipped the system deducting the GPU cost so he's happy now. I only charged him £150, cant be ripping off your mates but I could have got double easily as this was the height of the shortage.

The 6700XT unfortunately is not worth more than £500.

Cheers for the input, I'm hoping ocuk will do a voucher code again soon, there have been 6700xt and 3070 in stock for days so don't see why they haven't

The wholesale prices need to come down, OcUK reckon as they have to buy for £675, once they take % to cover costs its > £700. You need them to be able to source them for £450.

Yep I'd agree, I'd maybe go slightly higher (max £25) for a decent AIB model given the price of most other GPUs, excluding 3080 FE though - if you win the lottery and get one.

I am seeing 6700 XT prices come down though, even OcuK have droped them recently. Still a ways to go though, but they appear to be dropping faster than other AIB GPUs.
