True enough. Only one vote stopped german being the official language!

Actually, this is a myth:

I'm not sure why people still choose to believe that this was possible -- colonial America was overwhelmingly British. Why would the majority of people be happy to throw away the language they'd heard their whole lives, for something completely foreign?

Milk comes from cows. Cows can be brown. Milk is used to make chocolate. Therefore chocolate milk comes from brown cows. As a bonus point Swiss cows tend to be brown and Switzerland is well known for its chocolate.

I suspect that the 7% are actually far more insightful than 95% of people in this thread.

Milk is not used to make chocolate.

Ingredients
Chocolate is a natural product made of these ingredients:
  • Chocolate Liquor: Cocoa beans with their shells removed that have been fermented, roasted and ground until they liquefy. This liquid is made up of cocoa butter and cocoa solids; both are naturally present in the bean.
  • Cocoa Butter: Natural fat from the cocoa bean; extra cocoa butter enhances chocolate’s flavor and mouthfeel.
  • Sugar
  • Lecithin: An emulsifier, often made from soy, that makes the ingredients blend together.
  • Vanilla or vanillin and other flavors.
It also may include

  • Milk: For milk chocolate.
  • Fruits, Nuts and other Add-ins: For specialty chocolates.

So yes chocolate exists without milk :p

Saying chocolate milk comes from brown cows is actually more correct than saying chocolate comes form cocoa beans. The reason being that that if you look at the breakdown of chocolate compared to chocolate milk, a greater percentage of the ingredient is coming from the cow in the case of the milk than it is the bean in the case of the chocolate.

And no, there's no punchline to that headline :o

After the most frequently asked question on the Innovation Center for US Dairy's website was "Does chocolate milk come from brown cows?" they decided to commission a survey.

From that survey, 7% of adults thought it did come from brown cows and a staggering 48% admitted they weren't sure where chocolate milk comes from...

It beggars belief really doesn't it, I know the US aren't renowned for having the best education system - oddly though as they have some of the best Universities in the world - but the general state education system must be appalling!

Also the above article mentions a study from the 1990's that showed 20% of Americans didn't know hamburgers we're made from the meat of cows...:D

I thought this was going to be a joke thread. OMG....words fail me lol

"There is no difference between communism and socialism, except in the means of achieving the same ultimate end: communism proposes to enslave men by force, socialism—by vote. It is merely the difference between murder and suicide."

I do worry about you with your frequent quoting of Ayn Rand :p
