What is the full oficial spec as i have notice some sites dont mention ncq and some only mention is 8mbs cache.

Seagate's 7200.10 Datasheet

The 320GB looks very interesting, 2 platters so 160GB/platter. There's a review out there somewhere, and here is also an HDTach result graph.

Looks like it's definitely worth considering - 80MB/s begin transfer is pretty amazing, and the average over the whole 320GB is basically as fast as the 74GB Raptor...

i mean thats got to be something special it would be quieter and data write would be much faster and also quiter in theory.

anyone correct me on this?

hi

where did u get the grapg fromand mentioned about the reviews if anyone found any please post as i,m looking as i write this

thanks

I've also just seen this drive for sale on another site...but it says

320 GB Seagate Barracuda® SATA2 7200rpm 16MB cache oem (Manufacturer's 5yr Warranty) Manufacturer Code ST3320620AS

Which is right if you look @ seagates site....
http://www.seagate.com/cda/products/discsales/marketing/detail/0,1081,759,00.html

the best thing about this...the site who are selling them, well its only £65.40 Ex VAT
£76.85 Inc VAT....thinkin of buyin 2 of these 2moz.

1. I don't really understand what you're trying to say in the first part of your post. I thought we already established that it's a 320GB 7200rpm Seagate drive?

2. The price you quoted is only around £5 less than how much OcUK charges. Yes, it's a difference, but hardly rocks my world, tbh :o If it was, oh I dunno, like a £15 or £20 difference then I might get excited.

1) I'm sure i read someone sayin it was a 500gb drive...sorry think i need to put some glasses on.

2) i wasn't getting excited, all i said was i think i will buy 2 of these 2moz...doesn't mean i'm rushing to buy one and getting over excited about saving myself £10.

hi

ya iuts hell of a drive on paper but it would be even better if some had it and commented on it, i read somewhere that the noise is on par with the raptor which is quite scary and considering that seagte these are a lot quieter than 7200.9.

seagates are usually quite and i also read some where about how the 7200.8 was a bit of a disapointment for some reason.

anyone confirm this?

i mean on paper these drives look and sound impressive but if you seen the other models for example 7200.8 they get hammered by the samsung p120 and the wd se16.

anyone one got one yet or review even but not the 750gb version!

Hmm I read a few days ago something about them being silent and almost as fast as the raptors..... dunno where I saw it though....

But does sound interesting, still prefer to wait for 1 terrabyte disc, or 2X500gig may do ;)

I have two of the 320GBs arriving today to replace my last 2 IDE drives, going for an all sata system as its neater and a tad faster.

I have a 40GB raptor as a main drive and will run HD Tach on them all and post my findings :)

hi

thanks for the post, could you do a mini review on these two drives?

in terms of noise (in particular, seeking and idle), games and application performance (reading, writing), Heat.

use HD Tach 3.0.1.0, for benching if you can and activesmart for temperature.

anyone else for suggestions for software or others to be included in the review please include.(not to many guys let the guy enjoy his toys)

thanks
