737-800 down in China

Actually I think this is MCAS failure again. Looking at it a bit more closely the altitude and profile of the descent is consistent with it. MCAS would have detected a stall and put it into a dive which is roughly 20s long. It’s possible at 3,000ft the aircraft was reporting an incorrect speed or the pilot had erroneously not put the flaps down yet and had actually put the aircraft into a stall. Flaps down would have disabled MCAS.

edit: posted a different view below.
800 doesn't have MCAS.

Got Boeing on site Wednesday I'll quiz him see if he has any info he can share.

pilot suicide maybe? cant think of a nose dive - straight down malfunction scenario. no distress call, no mayday, from level flight to nose down, doesnt make sense.

As I mentioned at the bottom of the post I updated with a different view. It does have anti stall though even if it doesn’t have MCAS.

Does that sound like fireworks in the video of the crash site ? was this plane carrying fireworks.... or something that caused a fire or issue..
The main bang sound that can be heard seems to be happening at "regular" intervals, which is not something i would expect in such a situation. Also I don't think any fireworks would still be intact after such an impact.

It could be the sound of the fire "popping" tree's as the intense heat boils any fluid and the steam pops the bark but I'm not sure how much of an urban myth that is

If the plane wasn't a MAX then could the pilot of overturned it causing it to roll over and dive? But then surely they should have the means to pull the nose up
Youtube happened to recommend this video to me which just happens to relate to your post. Just for the record I am not saying that this crash happened because the plane rolled over but I think this video will be interesting to watch. Coincidentally I believe he is a 737 pilot (not sure what variant) and he does show a full roll over in the simulator at the end of the video.

TL;DW - Increasing the bank angle of the plane requires the pilot to pull up to maintain the planes current altitude. However this increases the stall speed of the plane and past a certain bank angle it requires more engine thrust to avoid stalling the plane.

There has been speculation of a pylon failure causing engine detachment initiated from the thrust change when descent was initiated that caused it to turn over and enter a dive that was briefly recovered by the pilots before going down. It’s purely speculation of course.

Just watched Downfall on Netflix, won't look at Boeing the same again. This CEO emphasis on profit and shares culture is an absolute poison, and I would love to see this culture completely outlawed in businesses of all types, especially on company mergers or take-overs, disgusting.

Dennis has gone. He was a stain on the history the company. I know someone of course who works there.

Ceo got a nice pay off for letting two planes crash on his watch.. I with I could screw up that bad and get 26 million $

recorder should be fine, designed to handle way more than that and relatively easy to track once theyv secured the area.

Yeap, it'll be a FA2100 FDR by L3 Communications fitted to the 737-800 series - https://www.l3harris.com/all-capabilities/fa2100-series-cockpit-voice-and-flight-data-recorders - and whilst it can be difficult to recover data due to impact/fire, the NTSB and L3 have the ability to remove the individual memory chips from the SSD PCB's and still get the data that way, rather than needing the device to be operable.
