Hi there, thot I would post my results on the following benchmark test I did for my own comparison. Have not got round to testing SLI as yet as checking each new card on its own to make sure no problems, but will add SLI results in very near future. I ran 7 different benchmarks, all of which have either an in built benchmark tool or are benchmark tools in themselves. The following were tested:

Heaven 4
3DMark (Fire Strike Extreme)
Arkham Origins
Hitman Absolution
Sleeping Dogs
Sniper Elite V2
Tomb Raider

I used default settings in both CCC and Nvidia Control Panel and I ran both set-ups at their stock clocks. 925 core 1375 memory on the 7970's and 980 core (1046 boost) 1750 on the 780Ti. I wont post the screenshot comparisons unless requested. Please note, the 7970's were water cooled and the 780Ti is using a Twin Frozr IV cooler with default fan profile so I wont be comparing acoustics or temps. Thought these results may be of interest to anyone contemplating making a similar switch.

My CPU is a 4770K @4.4Ghz. Was using 14.6 betas on 7970's and 337.88's on Ti. All other components were the same. The setting used are the same settings used in the respective benchmark comparisons, which I will link to. All test carried out at 1080p.

First up...

So to sum up, based on the tests I have carried out, 7970 CF @stock speeds is from anywhere between 1.55% to 21.98% quicker than a MSI GTX 780Ti Gaming Edition @stock speeds.

My SLI results will be added soon...

Nice results there five. What are the stock clocks on your 7970?

Stock clocks are 925/ 1375 on my Powercolor and 1010/1375 on the MSI (I believe you perhaps had same card at 1 point?). However, for the purpose of the tests, I downclocked the MSI to the same speed as Powercolor. I know the cards are capable of running at different speeds, but I am a bit OCD when it comes to that kind of thing.

Both cards do ~1185mhz at 1250mv, but I rarely used these clocks apart from benching. I also got results at those clocks, which I can post if anybody has any interest.

Pretty impressive that the 780Ti can hold its own against two of the top end last gen cards.

Agreed, I am very happy and tbh could have gotten by on single card based on the testing. However, I do intend to purchase a 1440p 120Hz when they are readily available (Asus ROG I am looking at you), so the extra horsepower will come in handy. I also inten to water cool them, so would rather do both blocks and only have to do the loop a single time, as opposed to draining and stripping down to add the 2nd card.

It would've been great if you had tested them at 1050/1500, the stock clocks of 7970Ghz cards, as 925/1375 7970's don't exist anymore.

Good results though, thanks for taking the time. Bet you can't wait to get that second 780TI in there. :)

Yep I should have tested at Ghz clocks. Was something I considered, but tbh I was getting a wee bit impatient to start work on the strip down of my w/c loop lol. Impressed thus far. Even Watch Dogs was running well on the 1 card.

Yeah very good value to be had from 7970's or 50's. Tbh I was absolutely in no need to upgrade whatsoever. I just had the itch and was constantly looking at new toys, so took the plunge.

Also, for anyone with access, a couple of very good 7970's with EK water blocks will be getting added in the very near future!

This makes me very happy that I got my 7970 and 50 when I did. Had the 7970 since launch and I managed to pick my 7950 up for around £180 about a year ago.

I can't see them being replaced any time soon!
