It's go no place - period. The American bulldog gained popularity after the pit bull was banned.
It’s got no place in the UK IMO.

Why not both - one doesn't block the other from happening.
A tiger is a safe animal if the correct precautions are taken.
Whilst I agree that certain breeds serve no purpose but to intimidate, I still feel that the owner should be ultimately responsible for the control of his animal.
My collie and a friend's German Shepherd do just fine. Just for scale, they both weigh about 35kg.The punishment isn’t even close to appropriate for the crime.
The law in this instance is a joke.
We are talking a Game of Thrones style death here and a slap on the wrist as punishment.
If the law was better the attraction to want this type of dog wouldn’t exist.
I don’t for example see how dogs like the Rottweiler, Doberman and German Shepard could continue to exist.

Just trying to establish which dog breeds @dowie wants rid of.
Well I've already answered that - I'd like to get rid of bull terrier breeds in general as they're disproportionately responsible for deaths in dog attacks... like off the scale relative to all other breeds.
Rottweilers? Doberman’s?
How can you cull bull breeds and keep those?
For the reason I've given in the post you've literally just quoted.
Pit bulls are banned in the UK.
How many times do I have to state this fact.
it didn’t stop this poor old lady dying though did it?
The OWNERS are the criminals
Not the animals.
Bored now / ignore
Do you think that just possible, just possible, that the owners are a significant part of the type of their breed?Well you're missing the point - as already explained the problem here is that there are various other bull terrier types out there - then you get the issue of what is or isn't a pit bull - a broader ban and eliminating the type, in general, resolves this.
See the edit above German Shepards are way way more popular in general (number 2 in the US according to that data) and yet in the US cause less than a 10th of the deaths.

That the owners are a significant part of the type of their breed.I'm not sure what you're asking here - I think there are bad owners. I'm not sure what you mean re:"part of the type of their breed"? Are you talking about some dogs having more bad owners - in which case to some extent yes... though in this case we're talking about a very large difference in deaths - if they mistreated say a labrador it wouldn't necessarily have the same effect!

If you think Staffies should be wiped out then you’re gone in the head mate.I'm not sure what you're asking here - I think there are bad owners.
