8800GT Ramblings Thread

who has ordered a 8800gt that was expected on the 16th and still has not arrived ?, im worried as i have no computer untill my card comes, which is EXPECTED on the 23rd, i just know its gonna be longer :(

I just noticed, my Graphics card's fan doesn't seem to switch on when it goes about 90c! I have to switch it on manually in Rivatuner and i dont want to keep on doing that.

Is it BFG by any chance ??

I think these were the common probs with the first batch.

yeh i was expected the evga 8800gt to come in on the 16th but it doesnt seem to have, which has also put me in a bad situation as i need my new computer for coursework as my current one is having some issues with certain applications (visual studio) i think it might be a psu problem. basically i need my parts now :(

Here's hopeing there's some stock tomorrow, although given that the 8800GT's from competitors are now gone, I think we're all going to be looking at the end of the month before we see any retailer with significant stock.

Dare i skip maths tomorrow and go pick up my card from the depot ? :D

Thoughts plz :p

*edit*

DOH

IVe just read the card, the depot is open until 8pm monday to friday.. I might just go pick it up.

My OcUK (ECS Elitegroup) GT seems to do the same thing, 29% until I force it.

How is the GT comparing to your GTX then?. Is it making it seem a bad purchase or is there a certain power that lies within the GTX still?. 1680x1050 is a little bit favoured towards the GT though, it'll be the GTX territory for 1920x1200 and above (I think it will run better) but if your not upgrading your screen and the GT can do all the GTX done for you then I'd get rid of that GTX as soon as possible to try and retain as much of the value as possible unless you're keeping it.

I got the money in from the auction site today, my GTX went for £260. :D

I'm getting a 37" 1080P TV this week and hopefully I won't lose too many frames going from 1680x1050 to 1920x1080, the hit from 1280x1024 was pretty small though, very actually.

Nice sale and good luck on the resolution change. How well do you think my 2900Pro will run even 2xAA at 2048x1536? :o. At least you will have a chance ;). I hope that TV will be used for some Pro Evolution 2008 goodness and any other friend beating sports title?, otherwise it's just a waste :D.

Getting my copy of Pro Evo sometime in the next 2 weeks, got the 360 on standby. :D

Ouchies about the 2900, good look though. :p

Admittedly looking forward to seeing Eastenders on the larger screen (:o), I watch loads of TV shows on this PC too so it's gonna be great seeing them, moving from a 20" Benq. :)

GTX is already gone, getting £250 for it soon enough. :D

I really like the GT so far. Crysis on all high (without AA) runs nicely enough and my 3D Mark score has gone up, not that 3D Mark matters. I am really impressed with the design, it's incredibly slim and it runs very cool.

I can already see the hit that this card takes with AA etc. but I'm not too bothered as it's pretty much completely limited to Crysis and no other games I am currently playing. I'm not planning to upgrade my monitor any time soon either, so I think all in all I've done the right thing. :)
