8800GT Stock?

Well Gibbo i think yer wasting money there on all those GT's your getting in, you should only get EVGA/BFG brands in from now on and sod the rest as no one wants em, as you can see from all those Gainwards you have sitting there still, its pointless gettting cards in that no one wants mate, send the buggers back, take the rest down, and just do the 2x brands (BFG/EVGA). :)

I thought that all the cards are the same, just with a diff manufacturers label on them?

Looks like the new fan on the revised GT's should drop load temps by a few degrees, always thought the GT fan was a wee bit too small.

The new cooler is impressive while it’s at full speed. From the chart seems only 2~3C difference to the ole one but please keep this in mind: the new fan have a more lower fan RPM. Just remember, set the fan to full speed while gaming and enjoy the low noise level of the new cooler.

If you want to purchase a 8800GT, just go for it. Because from now on, every reference 8800GT ship to retailer will equiped with the new cooler.

Yeah that makes good sense, I was also bangin' on about the old stock cooler making the card too hot so I'm glad to see that it has been revised. I wonder how the fan-control has been programed to? Maybe it will actually start to increase the fan cycle duty when the card hits the mid temps instead of waiting for it to reach 100°C

Good stuff now all we need is a few thousand cards in stock so everyone can get a piece of the fun :)

Clearly. What with every single card being completely sold out and all.

There is another small mod they have done on the new cooler. . .

They have cut-out more of the plastic area around where the PCI-Express power cable goes. Anyone who has used a regular 6-Pin PCI-E power cable probably wouldn't have had any issue but on the 'beta' cooler the plastic casing 'prevented' you plugging in one of the newer 6+2 PCI-Express cables because the latch on these cables is too wide to lock into place.

I tried to use one of the captive 6+2-Pin PCI-Express power cables that come with the ANTEC Quattro, of course I folded back the extra +2 pins but the bugger just wouldn't lock into place, just would 'pop' right back out again. In the end I was forced to attach a regular 6-Pin PCI-E modular cable to the PSU so that it would fit.

Whilst there seems to be more GT's available now, the prices remain inflated on what they should be.

I think people know this and are either waiting for the GT prices to drop and/or the new GTS to be released. The time has now passed were I would have paid a premium for a GT. I am now waiting for the new GTS and if I can get one early enough will happily pay a premium for this.

I knew someone would say something like that, do you have an EVGA card because if you dont, dont worry about it, looks like a handy feature to me.

I did have an EVGA card, I was going to do a step up to a GTX and I calculated the cost at around £100 but then realised EVGA's RRP on the GTX were much higher so found it to be pointless and sold the card, eventually to get an 2900XT :(

well im one of those who was going to buy one very soon but prices around here are a bit rich i mean for 20 quid more than top gt i could buy a gtx.when is this price raping going to stop sorry but prices are way over top and there not that hard to find.

Heh lets see how long these Evgas last.

By the way peeps the SSC fan defaults to 29%. Might want to crank it up to around 50% to cut down on crashes. I had to.

Stonking card though gave me 14884 on 3dMark06 straight outta the box.

They all default to 29%, not just the SSC.

Are you refering to the 8800GT Crysis Edition as the top GT?

I know what you mean. I am currently looking at spending around £1000+ on a new rig, but the GT prices are just way above rrp. looks like i will have to buy bits and pieces from different retailers rather than everything from OcUK.
