8800gtx driver issues

Make sure ** WD hdd is operating in the sata 2 format tho im not sure if theres jumpers to adjust on sata drives i personally havent used one before yet.

2.0 volts wont kill the ram just dont tell crucial tho cos they dont support going past 1.9v.

Also if ** brave enough i would try a bios update it could be the saviour of ** problems. Tho just curious what revision ** on now. And we can check if a update that might help be available by checkin the notes of the recent bios revisions.

Btw best to run orthos for 8 hrs not just a few hours. And mem test needs a good 8 hrs minimum id say. Another quick test of mem i find is winrar and using the benchmark feature on latest version. Finds errors quick that does.

right i'll have a look at what bios revision I have for tomorow, and run orthos and memtest, for 8hours or so each then.

I wasn't aware that there were jumpers on sata cables? i can't se them if there is.

I'll have a look on the gigabyte site for bios updates. and btw the ram is corsair not crucial :p

Just checked the mb official page and it says the Q6600 G0 cpu needs F4 bios. As seen here http://tw.giga-byte.com/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=2551

Heres the bios from europe server. http://europe.giga-byte.com/FileList/BIOS/motherboard_bios_ga-p35c-ds3r_f4.exe

If needed heres chipset drivers as i wasnt sure if where u were getting them before. http://tw.giga-byte.com/Support/Motherboard/Driver_Model.aspx?ProductID=2551

Edit - Another thing u could try is deleting the partition on your hdd and make a fresh one as it might be corrupt so formatting wouldnt fix it, but using fdisk or somit and making a fresh one might help. Long shot i know but just thought of it this morning.

Wow 6 pages and you still aint got this fixed??

I build loads of system a week and it very clearly seems to be a hardware fault. The most likely things are:

Faulty or incompatible memory
Under powered PSU
or..
The mobo needs a BIOS update

Try the board with just one RAM stick installed, with very relaxed timings and/or running it below spec, like 667MHz.

Unplug any USB devices you have connected, even things like the case USB ports that connect directly to the motherboard.

Dude, I'd be willing to drop by your place and have a look if you want. I see from an earlier post you're in Coventry. I live (reasonably) close by (Leicester way) so let me know if you want me to drop by sometime. Probably best is to MSN me. Cheers. ;)

cheers mate, I'm gonna try what skeeta suggested last night. then failing that tomorow I have to ring up scan to tell wheather or not I'm returning things, so if it isn't woring by then i'll be returning, the cpu, mobo, ram, and hdd. when i get them sent back to me either replaced or fixed or what ever, and I still get errors, then I'll give you a shout.

cheers for all the replies guys

yanto.

If you do send them to be replaced ask them while u got them on the phone and see if u can get them to assemble it and test it before they send it to you, if they say no say ill bung u a tenner or somit and they might do it if its not common placed to assemble.

yep that's what there gonna do, there gonna assemble and test all the components i send back, and if they find no erros they will send them back, and charge me £25 for wasting there time.

Well somits wrong so they shouldnt charge u but what i meant was instead of them sending the parts back (if they disasemble) then get them to build it proper for u and send like that back to u so u just plug in and switch on.

ah well not sure if they will becsue they'll only take back things that they think might be faulty once ive tld what my problems are. and also not all of the parts are from scan, the cae, psu, and wifi card are all from different places.

worth a try though, i'll ask em if they can if i pay em a bit.

i bytejugler suggest i have ran orthos

orthos been running for over an hour now 100% on all four cores, and with no errors, still running now.

Now I'm going to try and update the bios, I'm not really sure how to go about it though. I do not have a flopppy drive, but I have a 128mb Memory stick.

i'm gonna have to send them the parts already disasembled, they've said that they only want to test the mobo, cpu, hdd, and ram, so im just sending those off.

Did you try the bios update, as i said the Q6600 G0 stepping cpu needed according to offiical mb site the F4 bios yet if u didnt have the g0 stepping a previous bios was fine. So i thought it probably would fix ** probs if u updated if ** bios wasnt F4.

i havn't tried no, im not really sure how you do it. there's nothing in the motherboards manual about it.

Btw when sending things back tell them ** config when it was fully assebled and defo tell them on the mb site it says it needs F4 bios or above for the g0 stepping for quad 6600 cpus. Then if u can and the mb is not using f4 or is below then get them to upgrade the bios for u.
