8800gtx driver issues

that ide dvd rom drive should deffinately be in the boot priority though yanto

whats on the list of bootable drives?

hopefully moving to a different port might have been your problem all along!

well it is recognising it, but when you go into boot priority on bios, it just has the option of setting the CD drive as the 1st boot priority, but it does not specify which one (sata/ide) and the sata dvd is still connected.

if its anything like my abit bios, when i go into the boot menu it has hdd, floppy, CD-Rom, then it actually names my ide dvd drive, i.e. my list looks like;

HDD
Floppy
CD-ROM
NEC-16x16DVD1036 (or something like that)
USB Drive

etc

you could always try unplugging the other sata one and just use the ide to install windows again

tyred to re-install windows, I've tryed it with the drives in all the ports, tryed different sata cables, I've tryed it with my ide drives, and I keep getting blue screens during installing windows. It still passes memtest86 and I havn't got a windows installation on it to work so i cannot try any other tests, WHAT CAN I DO?!?

Yanto

just managed to install it on the sata drives, so far so good, but then i ran orthos blend and it crashed after 1 minute 30 seconds, and blue screened.

anyway it said the problem was with the temp file or something. I've just started downloading all the vista updates, and am going to hopefully finish them off tomorow.

yanto.

right well I have vista installed, and all the drivers, it seems to run fine, for some reason though mtw2 won't install. And I havn't tried anything else yet.

I'll gonna run 3dmark06 and pcmark06 tonight.

I could not get and futuremark things to work

I've ran the wd hdd test and it passed, and i've passed memtest86.

I've ran all the tests on orthos and prime95 foro a few hours each, and had no erros, until i did this test....

error.jpg

does this mean that the hdd is faulty or the ram?

Thanks
Yanto.

i took out one stick of ram and tested noth sticks on there own, and i dnt get any errors on orthos, so now I'm even more confused. they both work fine on there own, but not togethor?

hmmm, you could try to update the BIOS if there is a more recent one out, maybe there is an update that help compatibility with certain memory

edit: there is a few bios updates (release was ver: F2, now on F5, and the F3 update specifically mentions memory performance) so maybe that might be worth a shot
