Regret updating my motherboard bios now vcore is all over and its bugging me to what settings i need to change now tried all LLC levels still same :/

I finally got around to building mine today, thanks to my father in law for helping me out. Rather than screw the fans onto one side of the 240mm AIO, and then screw the other side of the AIO inside the front of the chassis/case, we just used one screw straight through the fans and chassis frame, into the rad on the outside of the chassis frame (inside the case front cover, if that makes sense). The idea was to save some case space, rather than having both the rad and fans inside the case itself. It turned out not to be needed (the case is rather large and open) so I could easily switch to push-pull if desired in future. It looks nice and neat though and the rad is of course now invisible.

I'm running at a 'stock' (with XMP/MCE) 4.7GHz on all 12 threads atm, and the mobo's auto volts is pushing a generous 1.38v at 100% load. I installed Windows 10 and got the basics up and running, but so far I'm very impressed. It's so much more snappy than my old FX8350 for loading apps etc, and my download speeds no longer bounce up and down during Usenet downloads in NZBGet (380Mbps). I imagine that's as much down to the NVMe drive as the new CPU and RAM but it all helps. I couldn't believe how quickly Windows installed, updates and all.

Before, on my FX8350, Cinebench r15 was giving 99 single core and around 650 multi. Now it's around 210 single and 1565 multi (I'm in bed on my MacBook Pro atm so can't check the exact numbers). Airflow in my new Enthoo Pro M glass case is nice - I presently have the 2x 120mm AIO fans on the front and a 140mm roof fan as intakes, and a single 140mm on the rear as exhaust. With all the empty space and mesh I figured that should be enough to maintain positive pressure while giving plenty of breathing space (so to speak) for the airflow. Temps after 15 minutes of Realbench stress (at 4.7GHz using up to 16GB RAM) were min 25oC max 72oC and hovering at 69oC for the majority of the time. That was with the fans set to silent mode, too.

I haven't overclocked it myself yet. It's such a step up from my old rig I figured I'd get more bang for buck enjoying the upgrade as it is for now, and then pushing the (pre-binned) chip to its 5GHz plus in future for another free perceived performance bump when I get used to it. The ASUS board and its UEFI is very nice indeed, and I'm glad I opted for it now. Really nice and easy to work with, solid, and it looks great through that glass side panel. Definitely glad I upgraded to Coffee Lake, but I can't help twitch a little at the 'missing' four threads I should have had (if I'd chosen 1800x as originally planned haha). Je ne regrette rien.

Good to hear it all worked out well. Is that 1050ti next on the chopping block or?

I knew someone would ask. :D Yes, it's definitely next in line for a significant upgrade. I don't really game much tbh and it will manage 60+ fps on Hitman and GTA V, but I play HL2 more than anything. I actually only use the graphics card in reality for hardware transcoding media files for Plex and Emby. Since the 1050Ti can handle high bitrate HEVC/H265, VP9 and AVC etc it's ample for now. A nice 4k monitor and high end graphics is definitely on the Christmas list though. It'd be rude not to.

My 5g have been shipped, time to strip down my case ready to build tomorrow.

Grats, gl with the build. You said you placed your order last Thursday, the 12th? If so, I wonder what is going on here then, I placed my order (8 pack bundle) last Tuesday 10th and it is still awaiting processing. Do bundles have a lower priority?

Yes that's right, I also have no idea what's going on, 8 pack said he was putting more bundles together today I was thinking the bundles were getting more priority and I wouldn't get mine shipped today. Either way he had enough stock at the time I ordered mine to full fill all bundle and normal orders, don't think yours will be much longer, maybe just packed towards the end of the day.

You are probably right, they're professionals, just got to let them do their job. Thanks for letting me know.

PS It is a big upgrade for me, see my sig, first gen i7 I got way back from 2007, it has lasted me well, should be a nice boost and hopefully last me for the next 10 years.

Still waiting for mine. I asked cs and they told me my bundle is just awaiting a 5.2bin.

Ok, if you haven't let me know as I'd be interested to see what you were seeing.
Was getting vcore all over the place from what I set as fixed at 1.375 which worked on release bios fine it was jumping up to 1.41 and down lower then 1.375 . She seems to he holding now at 1.375 at normal use and 1.369 under prime 95

Ofcourse not they get a lot more testing. 3 more bundles completed today. They get 24+ hours testing, including hci memtest over night.

Tomorrow starting this I have some 5.2 now, delid done and retest on cpu done. Your cpu can do 5.3 cinebench 1.37V ;-)

Guys you need to chill in general this stuff is not a two minute job. So far zero returns there is a reason for that.
