9700K very solid in Games.... I mean how many games support HT and extra virtual cores, Small amounts of Cache is making little difference and without HT you gain some OC room and voltage headroom too.
Sooo basically save yourself 60 quid buy a 8700k instead..

Yep. 9700k looks like a sweet spot for a gaming rig. Enough cores for some productivity too.

I'd have to agree if anything from my knowledge of video work crosses over.I think it's not using ht efficiently though.. Especially in an 8c for gaming....
It's definitely true that SMT is less useful the more real cores you have, just due to the way that multithreading works in most applications. But in general games seem to use SMT just fine, given the example I gave. Maybe in a few years those with 8c/8t chips will wish they'd have bought 8c/16t ones (kinda like the i7-2600K lasting longer than the i5-2500K), but who knows.I think it's not using ht efficiently though.. Especially in an 8c for gaming....
